De Eetkamer: A Culinary Journey with Friendly Service and Unforgettable Flavours
Prepare to embark on a culinary adventure at De Eetkamer in Stellenbosch, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of this charming town.
From the moment you step into its warm and inviting atmosphere, you'll be greeted by the friendly staff and immersed in an ambiance that exudes both sophistication and comfort.
The menu at De Eetkamer is a symphony of global flavours. Each dish is meticulously crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients, resulting in a culinary experience that is both exquisite and unforgettable.
One of the standout dishes is the Korean fried cauliflower, a crispy and flavorful delight that is simply irresistible. The delicate balance of sweet and savory flavors in the sauce is perfectly complemented by the light and airy texture of the cauliflower.
Another must-try is the saffron risotto with goat's cheese, a creamy and decadent dish that will tantalize your taste buds with its rich, buttery flavour.
The service at De Eetkamer is equally exceptional. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about providing guests with an exceptional dining experience. They also made sure that my pregnant wife was attended to.
Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends, De Eetkamer is sure to exceed your expectations.
Overall, I highly recommend De Eetkamer for its delectable food, friendly service, and unforgettable dining experience. It's a true gem that will leave you...
Read moreDe Eetkamer is a favorite! Their food is absolutely delicious. It’s so tasteful and you can really see the hard work the chefs put in each dish when placed in front of you to eat. The service is better than most of the restaurants out there. The waiters are friendly and they know what they’re talking about. If you ask them something, they know the answer 99% of the time. Most restaurants charge a service fee which is not unusual at all. Something else that I really admire from De Eetkamer as well is that the waiters gives you enough time to place your last food orders as the kitchen closes at 9pm, but you can still order something sweet or something to drink. The restaurant closes it’s doors at 11pm. Which is later than a lot of other restaurants in Stellenbosch. Most of them close between 9pm and 10pm. I have a lot of respect for the staff who offer up their time to be at work from 9am in the morning until 10pm/11pm. This is VERY long hours that most people do not know of or respect. The staff that works here also have families to go home to who they don’t get to see 90% of their day . So next time you are at De Eetkamer or any other restaurant that if you see the staff looks tired at the end of a very long day, please remember that they are on their feet the entire day, working hard to serve you the most delicious food they can. Being in this industry takes a lot and it’s hard work. Just my 2 cents and appreciation on amazing food and service. De Eetkamer is HIGHLY...
Read moreWhy didn't we visit this great restaurant before?! The food is very good: small sharing plates with nicely thought out and creative flavors, a real melting pot. Quality and portions very good. We shared 7 dishes: bread (very fluffy and the biltong butter is 100%), squid, line fish sashimi (I could eat 2 whole plates of this), soy cauliflower (asian flavor bombs!) tandoori chicken (flavor could have been more intense, it was a bit boring), onion risotto (very well done, not easy to make a good risotto) and the sticky toffee (this was sweet and smooth, jammie). All and all a great lunch in an informal setting with very friendly and attentive staff, not the kind that want to explain everything that's on your plate for 15 minutes. The wine is not cheap, also for a 'normal' Tokara cab.sav. I would advise to take a bottle of wine if you drink more than 2 glasses: 1 regular glass is R150 and a bottle R450. I thought the glasses would be bigger, but that wasn't the case, so after all we spend 600 on 4 glasses which equals 1 bottle. We spend R2000 including the 12% tip that's been automatically added to the bill (which they deserved, and communicate on the website and highlight on the bill ). I will definitely go again to try the monthly changing menu. And if you keep the wine and dishes in check you can make it a more cost efficient...
