A very disappointing experience. We choose Meraki for Brunch today after having a previous meal there that was great. Today we arrived just before 12 noon and given a table right at the end of the patio. No order taken until we asked to get a drink. Drinks arrived ok. About 30 mins after arrival we asked if we could order food. Placed our order and about 10 mins later were advised sorry past breakfast so no egg orders allowed. We were not pleased. Had orders been taken on arrival egg orders would have been executed. 2 orders were charged. 10 mins later we were advised sorry no scones, no croissants. So no eggs, no scones, no croissants. This was the last straw and we asked to see the manager. Orders for scone and croissant was changed and egg order reinstated. 10 mins later we were advised food would be delayed as they were making new rosti.
Well 1 hour after arrival we were still waiting and considered leaving. While debating this food arrived.
What a let down. Portions were skimpy. It honestly looked like they had run out of supplies. Definitely not like the meal we had 2 month earlier. Bagel was not fresh. Sort of toasted, plonked on a large plate with 5 pieces of lettuce. Eggs orders very small and not like before, french toast very small.
R 800.00. 5 very small average meals was not value for money and not up to standard. We will never return or recommend again to anyone.
Waitress was pleasant. No other redeeming feature to the visit. It was completely...
Read moreWe came here for dinner and were extremely disappointed and underwhelmed by the food. The atmosphere was great, but it’s hard for it not to be as the location is prime and it was a beautiful Spring evening and the Aperols were good. However, that’s where it ends. We ordered what we thought were two simple and easy dishes that you can’t go wrong with. The napolitana parpadelle with the add on of chorizo for R40 (steep) and the aubergine pizza. The pasta was very overcooked and broke off as we tried to pick it up on the fork and the sauce was entirely flavourless. We also found the portion to be rather on the small side for the price. And for R40 we got about 5 rounds of chorizo, not even crisped (ripped off). And the pizza, a base hard enough to cut diamonds. It ripped the roofs of our mouths and was very over cooked. Because of that the cheese was therefore hard - not the soft fior di latte we were expecting. It was also extremely bland and the tomato sauce was watery and again, flavourless. At almost R200 per meal, we don’t think we got our money’s worth. We felt misled by all the positive reviews as they created high expectations for us. We unfortunately,...
Read moreA fantastic space for a quaint brunch experience which we visited on 11 July 2023. We were helped as we walked up the few steps to enter. We requested to be seated at a larger table as we planned to use our laptops. They were very accommodating in that respect. The open fresh trout sandwich was exceptionally tasty; and felt they could have added an extra slice of sourdough to complete the meal. We requested the chicken wrap without the guacamole; and to our surprise it still was flavoursome. Be advised; the wrap is quite substantial and filling. Tea is served in a tea pot; hence you may get a few cups out of it. They were kind enough to warm each cup for us. The machiato was slightly disappointing as it had no distinctive flavour. The service is friendly and relaxed. If you're in a rush; I would suggest an alternative place. This is more "smell the coffee and enjoy the view" kinda place. We will be back next time in Stellies to explore more...
