I had the pleasure of dining at Man'ouche in Stellenbosch, which has been on my list for 2 months and I short I have to say it was great.
To start I had a milo milkshake which was thick, creamy and was not overly sweet. Though it took a bit longer to arrive then the drinks my companions ordered. I feel it was worth the wait. Although I'm not sure the price is justified.
For a starter I ordered the spinach pies as a starter and was pleasantly surprised that is came with a side salad and a sauce to drizzle on top.
For the main I ordered the man'ouche flat bread which was loaded with mozzarella feta and tomatoes. The rich mozzarella contrasted well with the tangy sauce that covered the pita. The sauce though tasted a lot like mayo and overwhelmed the flavour profile of the dish
The portion sizes were generous and I could not consume the entire meal, though I was famished when I arrived at the restaurant
The service was good and our server was attentive and considerate. They actually lit the gas heater upon our request since we were seated outside. The warmth generated by the heater was very effective in keeping us warm on the cold rainy evening in Stellenbosch.
We were actually seated outside of the bookshop located to the left of the restaurant. Due to it being a Saturday evening. While seated we did have many pedestrians pass by us, which unfortunately distracted from the dining experience
Overall a great place to grab a meal or even just a drink with many options to choose from. I will...
Read moreIn short bad service, overpriced food for the poor quality with a big smell of racism. You can arrive here with joy and leave with disgust. My experience: After a day of enjoying the beautiful things that Stellenbosch has to offer, I came to this restaurant expecting to get a nice dinner and was curious to experience the lebanese kitchen. Unfortunately the service was the worst I have ever experienced. We were positioned next to the restaurant in front of a shop and were not allowed to make an order. The excuse was the chef is busy. Of course it is not a problem to wait for your food and usually a restaurant communicates that it can take a bit longer but here for the first time ever the girl that served us said she couldnt write down what we wanted to eat. Okay thats unusual but not terrible we waited and waited and after insisting that we were now getting hungry it was suddenly possible when we asked another waiter. We felt unwelcome but heard good things about the food and we decided to go for the best the place has to offer (according to them) it was about 300 rand for kebab with a salad, hummus and bread. The food was blend. Service as said earlier didnt get any better and overall we left there very unsatisfied and with a feeling of disgust. We arrived there with a great feeling and once we left that...
Read moreEnjoyed a delicious supper there tonight with a few good friends. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as this place tends to be full. The food is Devine!!! I cannot rlexpress how on point the flavours were and the portions!!! Wow, my friends and I all had to takeaway our other half we couldn't finish. Yes, prices may seem a bit higher than other places but very very very well worth your money! The place was nice and cozy, we went during a colder and windy night and blankets were provided which is such a thoughtful gesture you don't see everywhere. We were seated outside, good comfy chairs were available. Huge great selection of drinks were available, there some were very exclusive ones such as the Lindt cappuccino... Will definitely need to try that for my next visit. We skipped starters and went straight into the mains itself and that was extremely fulling. When going there, one must definitely order their Man'oushe. I ordered the Kafta and it was superb, my pictures don't do it justice. My friends all ordered the chicken Jean which seems to be everyone's favorite and i can see why. Compliments to the chef! Amazing job, we had a great time! Keep up the...
