Cheetah was an unassuming fried chicken place locals frequent. It is a small joint, and seats only 16 at a time and was run by a single owner-operator.
Came here on a Friday 9:30pm on chilly March night. The place was full and the owner kindly explained that there was a 45-minute wait. I was not too hungry so the wait was fine.
Come our turn, we ordered bone-in fried chicken half and half. Half was cream sauce, and the other half was chunky garlic. We were served some side dishes - pickled radish and snack rings before our order came in 20 minutes.
The cream sauce chicken was a plate of happy sin. Its sauce was thick, creamy and cheesy - a tad on the sweet side, but overall tasty. Chicken was cooked well, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
The chunky garlic chicken was... hot. Not chilli hot, but its raw garlic power-overwhelming spicy. It was a cold March in Jeju, so my lips were dry and cracking, so the garlic burnt, but the garlic chicken tasted so good. I would return for this, maybe at a time when my lips weren't cracking.
The crispiness of the chicken did not last long, maybe due to them being drenched in sauce.
Cheetah was operated by one man, and he did a great job in keeping customers informed of the wait, cooking, serving, cleaning, managing takeaways and what-not. He was friendly despite it being a busy night and it was noted that he was sold out an hour-half before closing time.
Will come again if I am...
Read moreFor all my fried chicken lover and foreigners this is a must try spot. Found this place by luck and it was the most crispy chicken I have taste so all in all of S.Korea and flavor was delicious. We got half garlic and half spicy sauced (be warned it is pretty spicy) and 1 full size order of original fried chicken. We also got an order of fries which it is such a big plate that 3 people couldn't finish it. I am normally a sauce type of guy but to my surprise the regular fried chicken was my favorite. It was super crispy and have lots of flavor to it. Now I do have to warn you this is a very small shop (4 small table that fits 4 people each) and the whole place is run by one person so you have to be patient and have spare time to wait. The owner speaks decent enough English so foreigners shouldn't have any problem ordering. He have to take order on phone, online, dine in, wait tables, cook food, pack take away orders, served customers, and be a cashier. Since this is like a mom and pop shop just be patient with them and I promise you it is worth the wait. If they are open at 4:30pm and sold out of chicken by 9:15pm it tells you this place food is good. I witness non-stop orders coming in while I was...
Read moreDelicious, freshly fried chicken! Must-try! It’s a super busy and popular store, and a one-man-show (the manager is doing everything from taking orders to cooking and serving), so don’t expect attentive service. However, the manager still tried his best to provide good service and did not neglect the quality of the food.
There are only 4 tables (of 4 seats each), so if you aren’t in a hurry or particularly hungry, definitely worth the wait! If don’t want to wait for seat, you might want to do a takeout — you might need to wait up to 30 minutes for your order though.
Two of us got 2 full-size fried chicken (boneless) — spicy cream & seasoned — and they were both delicious. They were also huge (see video); we are pretty big eaters and finished only 85% of our food. They do have half portions so definitely...
