Hwaro Hyang — Restaurant in Jeju

Food was delicious! We visited at an off peak timing which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we didn’t need to queue to get a table. The pork and the abalone were extremely delicious.

Even with less tables to serve, however, the restaurant still appeared understaffed. It was difficult to get replenishments for side dishes and vegetables. The service staff aren’t the friendliest as well, but do brave their sullen faces to ask for more helpings of sides and veggies and included foods (steam egg, soup, cold noodles, fried rice) if you want! It’s worth it.

The vegetables were fresh as well. Sometimes the staff will help you cook your food, but most of the time, you will have to flip it yourself! We weren’t sure whether to wait for them to return to continue cooking or to take over ourselves. Thankfully we decided to take over! Our pork was nearly burnt XD The grilled kimchi and bean sprouts were amazing and delightful as well.

For PARKING, there is parking right next to the restaurant! So fret not. We almost couldn’t find...

Stopped by here looking for Black Jeju Pork Korean BBQ for a solo diner. As previous reviews mentioned, they do have a menu for single servings and will seat a single diner.

I went early in the evening- around 5 pm, so was the only person there and was still the only person at around 6 pm on a weeknight.

Got the pork belly and fried rice. Lady set everything up and cooked everything, and showed me how to make a ssam (lettuce roll). Also named all of the various side dishes and condiments. I don’t think she spoke much English, but had enough.

Food was good. Not sure if the black pork was really better, but it all tasted good. Left...

Based on another’s review, we opted for this over its neighbor. Latter seemed geared for tourists with its two or three person menu options. Here we could order specific meat cuts plates of 200g each. The pork meats were tasty. As we ate early at 4.45pm, there was no crowds and thus, no smoke or smells from other tables.
