온센 광화문점 — Restaurant in Seoul

A Korean friend recommended this place, and apparently the restaurant owner was on a famous cooking show! And honestly, the food was amazing. I’ve never had fried food like this before. Totally mind-blowing.

I heard there used to be over an hour-long wait, but now that they’ve opened more franchise locations, the line isn’t as crazy. Still, if you go during lunch hours, you might have to wait about 20 minutes because of all the nearby office workers.

We waited too, but there’s a beautiful accessory shop on the same floor, so the wait didn’t feel long at all. There were so many beautiful earrings so that we actually had to go back...

DO NOT EAT HERE! Although this restaurant looks attractive from outside, do not be fooled! At first sight, the place was a little messy and unclean. And the meal was average, after lunch a cockroach passed around our table!!! Obviously we never ever coming here again. Not recommended to...

일단 텐동을 전 즐기는 사람이 아닙니다. 식사량은 와퍼세트 하나 먹으면 배불러합니다.

골목식당 최초로 체인화 성공한 가게라고 들었습니다. 직접 배합해 쓴다는 기름 이야기를 들었는데 한쪽에 온센 전용 기름이 잔뜩 쌓여있어서 기대를 좀 했습이다.

일단 점심시간 살짝 피해 도착했어요 오후 1시 반 정도. 손님이 그때 좀 몰렸는지 입장 후 한 20분 있으니 음식이 나왔던 것 같습니다. 미리 안내는 되어있었으니 그러려니 했다만 점심 급히 먹어야하는 직장인들에겐 편하지 않을 것 같아요.

튀김은 맛있었습니다. 간혹 먹었던 텐동들 중 너무 기름을 많이 머금은 경우가 있었는데, 요건 그런 느끼한 느낌은 안들어서 좋았어요.

다만 양은 좀 부족하게 느껴집니다. 가장 기본메뉴 7900원 보고 처음엔 싸다고 느껴졌는데, 먹고나선 비싸다는 생각이 들었어요. 이 상태에서 배부르려면 만원 넘는 메뉴들을 시켜야하나 하는 생각을 하게 됐습니다. 왜냐면 밥을 추가하면 튀김이 부족할 것 같아서 밥 양을 늘이는 거로는 납득이 안가는 양이었습니다.

맛있게 먹는 법에 대한 안내가 있긴 합니다. 김은 눅눅해질 수 있어서 그렇다쳐도, 온센 타마고는 잘 모르겠어요. 계란 밥에 비벼먹는 사람이라면 좋아하려나요.
