Bar Jangsaeng — Restaurant in Seoul

Bar Jangsaeng is a very unique establishment located in a traditional marketplace called Nohyun-dong in the Gangnam District of Seoul. The bar itself moved into a traditional Korean herbalist store. The owner, Leo Seo wanted to incorporate Korean ingredients into his cocktails such as makkgeoli rice wine, soju, ginseng and many more.

I tried a couple cocktails, first was the 대박 aka Awesome, which includes Tak Ju, Yuzu, Lemon and Sparkling Water with some herbs on top. It was dramatically served in a hollow gourd with rice paper doors, dry ice vapor pouring out of it. It was very refreshing and light.

The second cocktail that I tried was a request for something smoky. The bartender humored me by taking a cinnamon stick and placing it over some whiskey. He took a torch and singed the cinnamon, and served it with a plume of smoke swirling around the top of the glass. It was potent and aromatic. Their appetizers were well made and paired well with the drinks.

Bar Jangsaeng has a bit of the past mixed with the new concepts of mixology. Highly recommend it to people from out of town who want to experience something that likely doesn't exist anywhere else. Reservations...

Best cocktail bar in the area. I saw this place on a Netflix show called ‘Midnight Asia’ Korea episode so i visited the place when i went to Korea last week. It’s located inside Yeongdong market street in Nonhyeon-dong. They have really delicious cocktails including non-alcohol cocktails and also they give you sweet potato chips for free when you order cocktails. I tried non-alcohol Umami sour cocktail and it was one of the best cocktail i’ve ever tried. It has pineapple taste but not cheap taste. My friends ordered Ginseng elixir, Hyojae and sesame oil cocktail. It was all so unique and delicious especially Hyojae was so delicious. I really recommend if you have to try one cocktail there. The bar is a little bit small but it’s still nice to visit....

A very special bar provide very special delicious drinks and snacks. Much healthier than other bars in the world. And for me, the taste of drinks are top in the world too. People are super friendly. Some of them can speak good English. They will introduce the drinks for you to choose. Because of the drinks are so delicious, beware if you drink too much got drunk.
