This restaurant specializes in seolleongtang. We ordered the basic version of seolleongtang and were satisfied with the overall taste and portion size. At ₩13,000, the soup was reasonably rich and tasty with a generous serving of sliced beef and rice noodles. Together with the standard portion of rice that came seperately, it was a good meal for us. There are other varieties of the seolleongtang, such as ones that include cow's innards, cow's blood and cow's tendons, ranging from ₩15,000 to ₩23,000. The only disappointing part was the side dishes. These consisted of cabbage and radish kimchi, which were severely below-standard. The radish kimchi in particular was so lightly seasoned that it looked like the restaurant skimmed on all the necessary seasonings and added gochugaru for coloring only. For Koreans, kimchi is a must with seolleongtang so this was a major bummer.

This restaurant is the typical Korean restaurant for eat-and-go dining, so there was not much of an ambiance or any interior design. The good thing is that there is dedicated parking space. Located in a residential estate and across from Seokchon lake, you will see mostly groups made up of family or friends. Service is very speedy but the tending ahjumas do not exhibit much friendliness or any welcoming feel.

Overall, I would have given this restaurant 4 stars if not for the disappointing side dishes and the icy reception from the...

It was a revisit in almost 20 years. I used to come to Bonga Seolleongtang 본가설렁탕 during my early days at Woori Bank Songpa branch. The taste hasn't changed a bit and the side dishes (kimchi 김치 and kkadugi 깍두기) were still fresh and crisp. Soup was rich and rich in flavor with no cow smell to it. Mix the soup with kkadugi 깍두기 water and it would perfect the overall taste. One minus is that the contents were a bit...

I've been coming to this restaurant for 30 years. They have been serving the best seolleongtang and kimchi in Seoul consistently the whole time. If you want the best authentic seolleongtang and kimchi go there. Their decor is not fancy but their food is tops and their price is...

I enjoyed the old school feel of the place. It seems like it probably hasn't changed in decades. The price is reasonable given today's inflation and the location. Service was friendly and prompt.
