Kang Seo Myun Oak is actually a staple of this city and it is always well kept and clean. My parents and I had mul-naengmyeon, maeun galbi-jjim and nokdu bindaetteok for lunch yesterday. Honestly the naengmyeon was not quite palatable, felt more dongchimi, soy sauce and msg flavors than other Pyongyang-style mul-naengmyeon I'd tried at which point the broth tasted better with a hint of extra mustard. Although the density of the noodles was obviously on point, the buckwheat ratio was not what I like. The galbi-jjim, on the other hand, was so good, very tender and flavorful. The bindaetteok was huge and savory. Menus were more diversified than I'd expected. The waiter was prompt and efficient. Seating was confortable as well. Overall, i wasn't blown away with the naengmyeon but the other foods and atmosphere overcame it. A pretty nice place to stop and get lunch with the family...

Had lunch here on a Saturday with a friend who has come here with her family for years. The place is super popular - it was jammed. They are renowned for their Pyeongyang cold noodles and for their mung bean pancake as well as for their beef and the gigantic dumplings filled with tofu that are typical of North Korea. I ABSOLUTELY loved the beef (among the best I've had) and I loved the dumplings. The cold noodles may be an acquired taste. Overall, what I missed is the spiciness that I typically associate with Korean food. This style of cooking is more nuanced and less reliant on spice. The staff are incredibly nice and I would definitely come back for the beef and...

I don’t recommend this place.

Service was terrible. We tried to order the beef but were rejected by the female waitress without any explanation. Then we ordered the dumplings and two bowls noodles but then they missed the orders and only served us one bowl of noodles 🙂😀

The noodles were tasteless. Few days later we tried the noodles at a Korean barbecue beef restaurant, which tasted much better and the price was only 1/3 of this restaurant.

Also the hygiene was a concern. We saw the staff (? I’m not sure) preparing vegetables or kimchi at the roadside.

At your own risk to visit...
