I am sure you are all familiar with the world famous KPOP song called âOppa Gangnam Styleâ, which âGangnamâ is referring to the wealthy and classy neighborhood in Seoul. This hanwoo (Korean Beef) restaurant was slightly pricey (since located in a fancy district), yet the hanwoo was absolutely worth the price. They had claimed themselves serve nothing but only the best 1++ Hanwoo, I was so excited to eat them all!The restaurant was full on Saturday night and it seemed we were the only foreigners here. There were like 6 tables on the first floor and they had more seats on the second floor. Similar to other Korean bbq restaurant, they served us some complimentary appetizers such as salad, marinated chili and smoked pumpkin. I was surprised by the smoked pumpkin, it was sweet but tasted good with the smoky mustard dressing.Soon after, the server brought two thick pieces of 1++ Hanwoo Tenderloin - Cow to the table and each piece was like 150g. After heating the grill, the server placed the tenderloins on it gently. Instead of using the gas grill, they used the charcoal grill here, which could bring a better taste to the beef. It was a torture to look at the hanwoo being grilled, then we still had to wait for it to rest. After a while, the server revealed the steak to us and sliced it to couple pieces. You think that was it? Uh-uh the server took out the sea urchin and put them on top of each hanwoo tenderloin pieces. At first I tried a piece without any sea urchin and sauce (just basic seasoning), it was crazy tender and beefy, I was in love already. However, after tried the sea urchin with tenderloin, it was FREAKINâ AMZAZING!! There wasnât any disgusting tastes of the sea urchin, in fact it got a hint of sweet flavour and it matched with the juicy beefy hanwoo. A piece of hanwoo showed me love, nevertheless a piece of hanwoo with sea urchin leaded me to heaven, and yes it was that GOOOOOOD!Thought that tenderloin was impressive enough, yet the bigger surprise had yet to come! Wagyu Sando is getting rather desired in Hong Kong and the following dish was something similar, Hanwoo Sando!!! That gorgeous medium rare cooked Korean beef with the toasted bread was so tempting, couldnât wait any longer to put them in my mouth! The bread was soft but not soggy, it created a contrast with the crispy beef cutlet. And the hanwoo was cooked perfectly, not extremely juicy yet incredibly tender. Since the beef itself was high quality, they didnât need some complex combination of ingredients to create these delicious dishes.Besides than the hanwoo bbq, we ordered a Spicy Potato Soup. We didnât have much carbs in the pervious dishes, luckily this soup served along with a bowl of rice. Also it wasnât just a bowl of plain rice, it was infused with some brown rice, so it was more nutritional and better texture. The red soup was spicier than I expected, I could handle spiciness, yet this was a bit too much. The flavour was good and addictive though, that was why it came with a bowl of rice which can neutralize the spiciness. You might also added the dried seaweed crunches and dried fish while eating the rice, better in both flavour...
Read moreI do not recommend this place to anyone dining with dogs, foreigners, or anyone that doesnât wish to have their day ruined.
We made a reservation and went to the Apgujeong outlet with 2 dogs (we clearly specified on our reservation that we will be visiting with 2 dogs), the welcome was the most unfriendly. There was no word of âwelcomeâwhatsoever, the guy at the door did a fake chuckle like we had the most ridiculous request for wanting to dine with dogs. Or is it because we are foreigners?
We were assigned a table on the upper floor, another staff brought us to the elevator without saying a single word, we arrived to the upper floor to more staff that also didnât say a word of âwelcomeâ or anything friendly. A female staff (shown in the photo attached) curtly told us to ring the bell when we are ready to order in the most nonchalant and unfriendly tone. She was the one that served us throughout our meal and it made our meal the most unpleasant and she acted as though we were having a free meal.
Of course, we will not...
Read moreRecommended by an Sg Influencer but is slightly overrated. We had 1 portion of Chateaubriand & 2 portions of ribeye. Staff helped to cooked it to the way we requested for - medium rare. Chateaubriand was meaty yet soft at the same time. Ribeye grilled nicely, tons of fats so really does melt in the mouth. Meat tasted so good for the first 30 min but subsequently was cold so not so nice. Best dipped with salt.
Also ordered the Beef Sando omg really good! Tender, juicy beef with toasted bread, paired with the sauce spread, worth to order! Tried the Doenjang Jjigae too, super comforting and flavourful, served with a bowl of warm rice.
Total damage about SGD300 total for 3pax. Had super high expectation but nothing too wowing about the food.
Also, we made reservation via the email provided on their instagram page. There is a deposit required via Paypal but managed to have that waived and reservation was smooth without deposit. Do make reservation as slots from 7pm were fully booked. We dined at...
