Out of admiration of Chef Yeon Bok, I'v made an effort to visit Mogkran. I hate the fact that I have to do this, but it is that serious.
I went there yesterday for lunch, pre ordered the 2 signature dishes, soy sauce braised pork belly and prawn toast. Pork belly was not exciting enough to be a signature to be honest, but prawn toast was the finnest dish yesterday.
My group also had A set course menu and ordered extra a la carte dishes black soy bean paste noodle and crab fried rice.
A course menu: 1st dish Lyu san sil - bland, seasoning is non-existent 2nd dish pal bo che - bland, seasoning is non-existent 3rd dish tang su yuk - meat it self is bland, sauce it self is just sweet. 4th dish jjajang myun - noodle is chewy to my liking but sauce is bland and doesn't meet the average taste of jjajang myun in Korea. 5th dish a piece of tinned pineapple stuffed inside a tinned lychee, imaginable taste.
Extra a la carte dish ordered: Crab fried rice - bland, seasoning is non-existent. I was chewing a big piece of crab meat but cannot taste any crab flavour. Spicy seafood soup came along with the crab fried rice - basically chilli colourd water, bland, seasoning is non-existent, not to mention the flavour of fire, seafood and supposed sweetness from vegs.
Food attendent was providing basic service, did not try to go above and beyond. Empty tea pot and dirty sharing plates were ignored when he delivered the food and no feedback were asked otherwise I wouldn't be writing it now.
To the person who prepared my lunch yesterday: If you do not have passion in this field, pleas try moving onto another industry, because it reflects on what you delivered instantly and directly, wil only do you no good.
I desperatly hope this comment can be seen and used for a good cause. In the end, thank you for reading and taking it seriously, I wish you...
Read moreRecently made a trip to seoul and this was definitely one of the top places i wanted to check out and try. Ive heard so much about it and seen the head chef/restaurant in the media quite frequently. So I thought, why not give it a shot.
I had high expectations going into it due to the hype and thus, I must say i was a little disappointed. Mind you it was still very satisfying and the dishes were full of flavor but I honestly expected it to be better. Some dishes were quite heavy and so after a few bites could not take any more of it. I definitely recommend coming with a larger party as most of the famous dishes are to share and portions sre quite large. A few of the dishes we tried also had to be ordered when making the reservation ie. the maenbosha.
Overall, good quality chinese food. But ive had better. Service was quick...
