The restaurant has been specializing in Korean Barbecue over 50 years and is listed onto Michelin Guide Seoul Its Diamond Cut Technique is patented.
Bulgogi (한우불고기, 45K): It is the best sliced and seasoned barbequed beef. It is very delectable, best of best - exactly the same as before! Marinated Galbi (양념갈비, 55K KRW): This roasted ribs from here were definitely my favorite but this time, it is disappointing.. The margination is good, but the beef is gamey (all my guests feel the same.) Korean Beef Tartare (한우육회, 45K) Sliced Korean Beef With Vegetables (한우로스편채, 45K) Stir-fried Octopus (산낙지 볶음, 70K): It is tasty with abundant ingredients. Cold Buckwheat Noodles (냉면, 19K): The price for cold noodles is extremely high compared to other high-ranged cold noodles from Michelin restaurants or Hanwoori at 14K. But personally, it tastes best for me among all, even though others say to me that I have a child’s taste.
The price is high, but I admit it’s high-end. There are spacious tables in hall which has good view over Pond, Waterfall and Garden. Three are also many rooms for private dining. Grilling service is provided and staffs are attentive and professional. Valet parking is available for...
Read moreBeautiful setting and restaurant which is unfortunately let down by poor and rude service. Once seated, the service is indifferent at best as assortments of traditional dishes are placed on the table in a hurried fashion reminiscent of hole-in-the-wall outlets, with nary an explanation or an attempt to educate the overseas guests. Then the up selling starts, which is fine to a point if they bother to ask how well you would want your Korean beef cooked, The server proceeds to grill the meat, while turning around to cut the pancake. Her multitasking resulted in over cooked meat, and a poor rendition of what should have been top notch Korean beef. If that is not enough, when asked for another small bowl to share the soup that my companion ordered, the same server chastised us for misusing the original soup bowls by placing other dishes in it. Such rudeness and condescension is probably enough to warrant an apology when pointed out, but no, she merely shrugged and walked away.
Samwon Garden may be more suitable for locals who are familiar with their traditional cuisine and know how to properly use their bowls. For the rest of us, there are plenty of better choices around in the upmarket...

Disappointed as I was really excited to try this place. We even did a walk in and waited bc resos were not available.
Atmosphere is nice and spacious, but the food - specifically the marinated short rib - under seasoned. You can get way better galbi for 1/3 of the price.
What really irritated me was our server. He seemed like he was rushed to get us out the door and turn over the table after we waited 40 mins to be seated. The worst part? He stated cooking the galbi like it was a stir fry on the grill. Anyone that knows anything about grilling meat knows this is sacrilege. He also was skipping steps like greasing the grill with the fat, etc. and we were constantly asking for our water to be refilled. I think b/c we were speaking English he thought we would not know better - despite the fact we are Korean! I got fed up and actually told him to stop cooking our meat and took charge of the grill ourselves.
There are so many great alternatives like Wooga for grilled meat and the small shop across from Arabica at co-ex for good galbi.
It’s a shame when restaurants decline in quality as they become...
