Restaurante El Buen Yantar — Restaurant in Ávila

Sat at this bar in the centre of Ávila and after a period of around 10 mins we were approached by a young lady who quite clearly was very disinterested in her job, quite rude, curt and miserable. We requested 2 beers and the menu. The beers arrived quite promptly, however no one approached us for our food order. I had to find a waiter and request a menu in English.

I was given a menu and shockingly the prices on the English Menu were more expensive than the Local Spanish menu (see photos) Very clearly a case of additional taxes for tourists.

We waited further 45 minutes without anyone taking our order. As a result I went inside the bar, pointed out that the service was appalling, the young female waitress was rude and also that they were charging English customers more than the locals.

The waiter called “Miguel” was brilliant, he was genuinley apologetic and tried his best to apologise on behalf of the restaurant/bar.

In short AVOID this...

I had a wonderful lunch at this place! Usually I avoid restaurants that ring the main plaza of a town but this place had good reviews on Google and it surpassed them all. I speak very little Spanish and have food allergies. I was able to explain what I needed to avoid and got the most delicious burger with some kind of local cheese, like a gorgonzola, with caramelized onions. I started off with the most incredible and fresh gazpacho. Out of this world! Accompanied it with a local draft beer and the meal was complete. I sat there for 45 minutes after I finished, was never rushed, and just took in the lovely people in the square. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you Miriam (I think that was your name!) Terrible service , waited almost 20 minutes for a table then went down to the bathroom and they where 3 empty tables , end up sitting ourselves there . Had to wait an 30 minutes just to get a cup of wine, an hour to get at least bread in the table . When we got our drinks we got 2 and another person was missing so we ask the waiter and he reply that he told me he was bringing it after seeing him coming up and down at least 5 times without serving the wine. We end up being literally the last ones to leave even though people got there after us. Great but but the worst service I've ever had, if you're hungry or have to do something during your day don't go there cause you'll loose your whole...
