Where to start. I usually dont write any reviews. But I need to share the experience with the restaurant so it can hopefully improve on its shortcomings.
We read the numerous good reviews, was close by and thought the place looked interesting from the outside (African decor) so we gave it a go.
We arrived around 19:55 and got seated at an indoor table, which was nice. The place was not anywhere near at full capacity.
We got the menu cards, and waited 15 minutes before we needed to request a waiter to come and take our order. A non-english speaking 'waiter' came to ask us if we were ready for drinks. I then asked what types of beers they had. This seemingly simple question he did not understand. I tried rephrasing in 2-3 different variations until I gave up and said that I would like a large beer. My fiancee asked for a Hugo Cocktail. This he did also not understand and we needed to tell him it was a cocktail in the cocktail menu and point in the menu card.
Not too long after we received the beverages from another waiter, though my large beer was suddenly a small beer. We then placed an order including starters, a cauliflower steak and cod-loin (ceviche).
After waiting 30 additional minutes (it was now 20:45) These two starters were served and was absolutely delicious and we were looking forward to the main course, the 300 gram Angus beef.
The main course arrived shortly after finishing the starters which was as expected.
My main course was terrific and the meat was tender and very tasteful. My fiancées meat however was so chewy and it was close to being inedible as it just became a ball of strainy dry meat in your mouth. I needed to spit it out as I couldn't swallow it.
We told the waiter that it was close to impossible to eat it, and the manager came over letting us know that we could get a new piece of meat. The second piece of meat came fairly shortly after, which was positive. However this piece if meat was almost the same as before. Only about 20% was delicious and tender. The rest was again strainy and chewy meat. Not what you would expect from this price range restaurant.
I went to pee shortly after and came back to a shocked fiancee and she told me she needed to tell me something. The non-english speaking waiter had placed his hand on her shoulder and asked something like "are you OK?". Where to my fiancée told him yes, we are finished and expected him to take the plates away from the table. But no, even though she tried moving away from him holding his hand on her shoulder, clearly indicating that this was crossing a boarder, he kept touching her on her shoulder. After about 30 seconds he leaves and does not take away the plates. Which again was really weird.
We had initially planned to also get a dessert and a cocktail but due to this experience and the lack of attention to the restaurants customers we chose to leave, after many failed attempts of getting the attention of the waiters to pay for our meal I chose to stand up and request the bill myself.
This place could be so good, if the waiters was actually professionally trained, could understand basic English questions and had attention to the customers instead of looking down on the floor whilst walking back and forth, oh and knew a thing or two about boundaries.
I am rating this 2 stars due to the good taste and presentation of the starters, and my...
Read moreWe hadn't heard of this gem before arriving in Alcudia but hearing the music and the smells as we passed we added it to our list of Must Do. Like many others it was our first time trying the Nadagascan menu and international spices but everything we ate was heavenly, food and flavour treated like art. We started with the bread basket - "African bread assortment: injera, saabayad, and pita served with pumpkin hummus, baba ganoush, and Ras el Hanout butter" all 😋 Tacos with organic Mallorcan lamb, sambal, and saffron rice followed and the portions were plentiful. For mains we had wanted the Fish Tacos but they'd sold out by 8.30pm get there early! Watching the waiting staff fillet the fish by the table made us both salivate and want to return. I settled (haha) for Wonton ravioli filled with a Mallorcan black pork Ravitoto with a sage and pine nut butter - a roast dinner of the finest quality and so juicy bursting in its pasta, so large I had to cut most in two to eat them.. My hubby had Slow-cooked charcoal-toasted piri-piri poussin with sakay sauce, pico de gallo, and steamed bao buns Nando's competition it was not, lols. The cocktails were also great with low lighting and rhythm filled tunes the whole atmosphere was fabulous. We will definitely be back for those Tacos, the super friendly energetic staff and maybe to steal the...
Read morethe atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and inviting. the menu is amazing. nevertheless i ordered the spanish ribs, when it came i was VERY disappointed: 50% of delicious looking meat, 50% fat clumb. the bit of meat that was on the plate couldn’t make you full and eating the amount of the rest fat will probably give you a heart attack. they offered me to take a steak instead: i ordered a medium WELL steak. they brought a medium RARE. after telling the service, they brought me the steak again: one piece was medium well (super delicious!) the other one was provocatively well done… my mother ordered the steak too, they brought the wrong side dish at first. the food (after a lot of turbulence) was very delicious, nevertheless the service was inattentive which made the experience rather disappointing. we were very excited to eat here, but considering the impression the restaurant gives you, you would expect the experience to be excellent from service to food - even if it’s just an attentive waiter / waitress (for example ask if they understood you right and repeat the order…) so if you decide to eat here: maybe repeat your own order so they don’t...
