We had a meal for four last night at this restaurant. The restaurant is in the midst of a busy thoroughfare, so not a place to eat if you wish for peace and quiet with your meal. As we waited for our ordered meal a waiter placed a bowl of some 8 prawns in garlic butter on the table, we thought ‘what a nice touch’. When the meals arrived, two sole, one salmon and my own meal of pork ‘cheeks’. The salmon was sent back to be cooked a little more and my wife said her baked potatoe was also undercooked but she did wish to send it back and so ate what she could, both the recipients of the Sole told me that the fish was ‘dry’ and without any taste. Unfortunately, within 15 mins of eating my meal I developed very strong tummy pains and had to spend time in the restaurants toilets. This was followed by both recipients of the sole also having tummy upsets. When we had the bill we were surprised to find that we had been charged 10 € for the prawns which were not ordered, when we queried this and stated that we hadn’t ordered them the waiter told us us that we had eaten them! Fair point, but a little scam that potential customers should be aware of. We would not go back to...
Read moreCa'n Punyetes has been running since 1995 but we have been using it even before it became Ca'n Punyetes. In the early days it was tiny and you had to shout for a table in what was a beautifully chaotic atmosphere. Even then, however, the table service was very efficient. They have always specialised in local dishes and we usually have half portions of several tapas to share. Over the years it has expanded and is now many time bigger than when we first dined there but the kitchen still produces freshly prepared dishes quickly and efficiently. Many of the staff have been there for years; one of the waiters told us he has worked there for 29 years and it's his only job since leaving school. Don't expect to be there for a long meal spread over the evening. With the quick service you'll be finished within the hour and although they won't chase you there will often be people waiting for a table. It's best to book at busy times. Tourists tend to eat in the early evening then the locals come later. They also do an excellent lunchtime menu with several good choices. Typing this makes me want to...
