Restaurante Casa Domingo — Restaurant in Alicante

Tuesday October 8 2024. Me and my friend made reservations at 13.30. We arrived at 13.45 (we were having a beer in the bar area of the same place, mind you). The host, a guy who acts like he was always being picked on in school, started screaming at us that we were late (15 minutes, this is Spain mind you) telling us we were late. We knew that so we apologized. They gave us a the worst table possible. Close to the toilets. Smell. After cooling down feeling you were scolded by your teacher in middle school we ordered. We wanted a bottle of rose, some croquetas and a steak. They had only one bottle of rose which you won't present to your worst enemy. The croquetas were as dry as the Sahara and the steak you could use to replace the bottom of your shoes after 3 years. We had some fries with the steak so we asked for some mayonesa. After 15 minutes it was delivered (1 tea spoon) and later we noticed they charged us 1,50 EUR for it. Needles to say we were disappointed by the food they served. About the people who are working there I can only say that they appeared to be working in a graveyard. Nobody smiled or had a nice word to say to you. Like going to the McDonalds but than 10 times worse. Then after 50 minutes the bill came. You won't believe this but it was over 100 euros. You can imagine this was the worst experience ever. I have lived for 7 years in Spain and this I can't get my head around it. Worst food ever, service even worse, prices like you eat at a Michelin star restaurant and being screamed at by the host when we arrived.

I have some good news. The Thursday after we went to Casa Julio, their neighbor. Everything 180 degrees different. All 10 out of 10. Service, Food and Experience (and price). I strongly recommend everybody to go there and never ever to this restaurant (that's what they call it, while I refer to it as Casa...

This feels like a tourist trap for people who didn't try the real food in Alicante.

The house salad was 90% iceberg, a few drops of corn and strips of carrots, canned tuna, anchovies and unripe tomatoes. Feels like it was just bought at a supermarket

The lobster paella was a lobster cut in half with 4 small shrimps, uncooked fatty burned rice. The lobster itself was very tasty, though just a small lobster and 4 small shrimps is not enough for the 22(44€ 2 persons).

Other than that the staff was friendly and quick with the food.

If you want the true taste of a paella I suggest you visit Alicante city, if you're just hungry after the beach this place is good enough, but the prices...

Elegimos Casa Domingo pq es un clásico de la zona con décadas a sus espaldas de hacer arroces y pq está en la playa y apetece.

local ,construido sobre la arena ,terraza acristalada, mar de frente...vamos el sitio donde apetece comer tras una mañana de playa . Lo deben de haber renovado recientemente pq está muy nuevo y moderno. 8,5/10

Carta : entrantes consistentes en pescados a compartir, ensaladas. Arroces, algún pescado. Postres de toda la vida . Si buscas lo habitual de estos sitios perfecta , si quieres novedades o alternativas vegetarianas o veganas ...pues te has equivocado de sitio. En su línea 8/10

Cocina : pedimos 📷 arroz a banda para 6 , muy rico con el punto perfecto del arroz q crujía en la boca, bastante sabor 8,5/10

Arroz negro para 4, más meloso y sabroso q el a banda. 8,5/10

Hubo disparidad de opiniones sobre cual era el mejor ,después de mucho dudar creo que me quedo con el 1ro

📷 entrantes calamares , ricos pero normales , los he comido mejores y mucho peores 7,5/10 chipirones, lo mismo digo 7,5/10 Ensalada de la casa , riquísima, anchoa , queso fresco , atún, maíz, tomate zanahoria...buen producto q se notaba. Eso sí pequeña y precio elevado 8/10

📷 postres : ninguno me gustó especialmente tarta de queso , normalita, nada q ver con las de moda q tienen ese sabor intenso a queso . Estaba rica ojo 7/10 piña , rica tiramisú, no me gustó, muy dulce 6/10 tarta de Santiago, no la probé

Servicio, profesional , de los de toda la vida . Trabajan a ritmo muy alto y se saben bien el protocolo. Encima mantienen amabilidad y hasta simpatía 👌🏻 Para la gente q había (2 turnos completos) todo fue bastante bien. Pq teníamos mesa a las 15:30 y a las 14:30 estábamos terminando el arroz. Luego tuvimos un parón con los postres y nos dieron más allá de las 17:30 7,5/10

Relación calidad/precio, 25 euros pp , con bebidas , postres, cafés. Quitando la ensalada 9 euros y bastante pequeña (aq muy rica) , el resto muy bien. Creo q menos de 30 euros en la playa y con esa calidad es excelente 8,5/10
