Tough place to review because some things were very good, and others not so much. Food: mango salad was fine, but a little too sweet and just mango and bean sprouts-a bit boring. Chicken satay was tasty but minuscule. Duck dish the server recommended was really, really good. Excellent duck. Service: the female server/cook was delightful. The male server was a complete jerk. Cleared our plates and left drips and puddles on our table. When I asked him to wipe the spills up he retorted that sauce âbelongs on the plate not the tableâ implying somehow we were at fault. Tried to ask for something as he walked by. He heard me and continued to the bar, checked something on the screen, fooled with something else, then finally walked up to see what we wanted. Was immersed in a long conversation in French and could not be bothered to bring us our bill. I took 30 seconds to review the handwritten chicken scratch on a piece of paper (commonly known as the bill), and clearly that was too long, as he stomped away 10 seconds into my perusal and came back when he felt like it. I feel sorry for the talented cook/server who works with him. He must be turning off customers right and left. On a Friday afternoon, in the height of tourist season, the place had at most 5 other diners. Also itâs quite expensive for the contents/size of the portions. We spent close to 50 euros for two starters, one main, and 3...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I could. Encouraged by great opinions we went to Suan Thai with friends for lunch. From the very beginning something was odd: when we called them to reserve the table nobody was answering the phone, finally they called us back and they said: you called us, what do you want? Without introducing themselves or anything. We made a reservation for 5 people. When we arrived waiter asked us in a very rude way if we are really 5 (as we were yet 4 waiting for another friend to join us) cause he doesnât want to waist the spaceâŠ. When we got the menus we started asking questions about the dishes as some of us have intolerances for certain ingredients. The waiter annoyed responded that maybe âwe donât want to eat here as we ask questions!â So being completely disgusted and disappointed with that behavior and whole situation we left. Such a behavior has never happened to me before: disrespectful, gruff, peevish, snippy, rude and aggressive at the same time! I donât wish to anyone to go through this kind of experience. Stay far away...
Read moreGreat food...awful waiter. It is a shame to give it 3 stars as the food was really enjoyable. The spanish waiter for our table, however, was arrogant and rude. He belittled my choice of rice for my curry (it goes in my mouth, I will eat what I bloody well like!) and then made a mistake with our order and bought out 1 chicken green curry instead of 3 (table of 4 and one had a red curry). He then proceeded to blame me, even though the others on the table agreed that I had said 'tres' y 'todos de pollo'; all plural words and considering the red curry was duck I am not sure how he got confused. Well, this went on for a few minutes, then he obviously muttered something to the lady chef who came out and saved the day. If he is the owner he needs to go back to business school, if he isn't then the owners need to read thus and send him to charm school. Friends also had the same experience with him....lovely chap! Must say the other, taller waiter was pleasant...
