A small little cafe just on the edge of town. A nice relaxed place to eat, with ample shade so you can eat outside. Of course you may want to move your chair around so that you are seated in the shade at all times. The food here is fantastic, so many dishes that I would have loved to try. But on the day that we did go I was already stuffed. Regardless hubby and wifey were very impressed with what we ordered. The staff here are absolutely friendly, speak good English and, more importantly, are willing to have a bit of banter with you. Wifey ordered the Gambas (prawns) in a hot oil. What a fantastic treat as it hit the table still bubbling. It was beautifully presented and tasted even more delicious than it looked. Hubby decided to order a Del Town Sandwich. A bit like a club sandwich by any other name. And while it was absolutely delicious, it was not as beautifully presented as it could have been. Not that it was ugly, I personally feel that with club sandwiches you should be cut in half, preferably triangles and flip one on the side so you can see the contents of the sandwich. The only other acceptable presentation is quartered into triangles and lined up on the plate. It just adds a little Je ne sais quoi and gives you that initial wow factor. That being said it's all about the taste, no trouble. And the club sandwich was delicious and went down a treat. And to top it off, the coffee here is amazing. Wifey was really impressed, she likes macchiato. At times it's been a bit of a language barrier asking for it. Hubby never has that problem as everyone knows cappuccino. But this place is the first place to truly get it right. And Wifey was so appreciative, and happy because it was delicious. While it's a little hidden, literally in the corner of town, unless you are near the two hotels, Elba and Ereza. It is definitely something that is a worry of a visit. Wifey and Hubby really enjoyed...
Read moreVery nice cafe let down by a rude and arrogant owner. We're tourists, spending a fair amount of money on a daily basis while we're in town, but as it turned out we were already fed when we turned up to this cafe on both occasions, so we didn't order much. But we fully intended to come back for a full lunch for 4 at some point on our stay. That will certainly not be happening now.
The first time we went we ordered coffees and sensed a bit of an attitude because we didn't order food. We were eventually asked to give up our table, which left a bit of a sour taste, but taking it as a misunderstanding, and quite liking the cafe, we were happy to come back again.
The second time we went we ordered a couple of drinks. This time the owner was obviously displaying an attitude. He seemed to make reference to the americano I ordered the previous time after I gave my order. Being initially confused by his remark, I repeated my order - it was an expensivish drink - because I thought he had misheard me. But he was making some sort of point. Once the drinks arrived, he asked us if we wanted anything else. We said no thanks. He then said something like "oh that is all you're having" and kind of laughed/scoffed in a way that left no room for doubt that he was having a go at us. We should have left then and there.
This guy comes across quite cool and charming on first contact and obviously feels like he is such a great guy that he can afford to abuse people who show up to his "cafe" to drink coffee. A small amount of business sense might have told him that the customer who buys a coffee today might buy a meal tomorrow, or maybe even a meal every lunchtime for the rest of their trip. In short, a bad attitude is not good for business!
Avoid if you're not having lunch -- or if you don't feel like rewarding...
Read moreI must say I had two good mornings here at this cafe, service was good and the coffee was just fine. I sat outside and did some work on my laptop both mornings with no trouble. On the third morning I arrived at 08:30, google maps said the cafe was open and the door was also open so I walked up and was about to say hello to the man running the cafe and he snapped at me saying "we are not ready. We are open at 9" in a terribly rude and abrupt manner, he was animated and wide-eyed. I replied "oh, 9" and looked at my phone to see the time. In which he then replied "this is my personal life okay" and something else which I couldn't understand. I was confused and shocked and said "I wasn't complaining about it". I left and as I looked back he was visibly agitated and looking at me while talking to his assistant. A horrible experience to be honest. All it needed was a "good morning, sorry we are not open until 9".
I want to emphasise that the bad review is directed at this man rather than the other friendly assistants, they did a great job. But because of him I will never go there again, never recommend the place to anyone and it has resulted in...
