Wow. Where to start. A very busy bar with ‘some’ good bands. Bit hit and miss. Yvonne works very hard in the kitchen, some of the staff are true gems, but down trodden. Caveat, they clearly live in fear. We too, have had the experience of being chased up the street for an unpaid (?) bill. When there is only table service, you do expect that the contactless payment is the receipt at the time & trusting your waiter - you tap & go. The embarrassment on behalf of the owner should come when the same said staff - in tears - beg you to return because of a charge they forgot, would be forfeited by them (which I did, leaving my daughters to hobble home on their own). Walked all the way back down the hill. But then, on another evening, when a cocktail was not up to any one’s standards, ask for it to be deducted from the final bill - tasted, not consumed & returned on delivery. What an ordeal. The waiters response was “You have to pay or I will get charged for it” - I asked to speak to the manager. The manger refused to make eye contact & told me to speak to the bar tender who made the drink. The bar tender told me to speak to another manager, who presented herself as the owner. Some what of an inconvenience for her to come outside, so we could both be heard over the band. As it happens, indicative of the vitriol & tone of review responses, she was perfectly happy to hurl a barrage of abuse from the relatively quiet street. A stream of personal comments & interruptions ending in ‘babes’ this & ‘babes’ that, over such a small matter. Mentioned previously as ‘VERY hands on’, the staff & customers would likely be much happier left to do their jobs with trust & enjoy themselves, shouldn’t be ‘person’ facing in any capacity, a detriment to her business, sadly. Expecting a delusional, duplicitous response, as accountability & hospitality don’t appear to be a...
Read moreOur first visit to The Vault and certainly won’t be the last. This place was a great vibe. Cosy, romantic and busy but a really relaxed atmosphere. We didn’t book but seeing all the recommendations on social media we gave it go. Greeted by the super welcoming Ally and his friendly team, mention for the lovely Kyra, we managed to get seated and ordered a beer and a really good Malbec. Now even though this is really a bar, the food here is second to none. We ordered a cheese burger with fries and coleslaw and the flat iron steak with a chimichuri sauce with a side of pickled panko onion rings. OMG, these were absolutely delicious choices. The steak was the best I’ve tasted and just melt in the mouth. Perfectly cooked, medium, as recommended by the chef. Hubby said the burger was the best he tasted in a long time. Chips were tasty and the chimichuri sauce was so good. Other options available but I do love this sauce. The onion rings were absolutely delicious too. We finished off with a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was also so damn good. Thanks guys for a great evening and we will definitely see you again. I think I’d honestly say I would fly back to Tenerife just for that steak. 10/10 for sure and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place for superb food, served with a smile, great live entertainment and a good vibe....
Read moreApparently you have to be a regular here to know that there’s a Sunday afternoon dining event. Walked up here from the beach at 12:45 in the afternoon expecting a cocktail and some lunch. Wasn’t made aware that the kitchen was closed until after ordering my drink. Sadly, that’s bad for business and hopefully they’ll learn to put a sign out or instruct the staff to tell customers before they are seated. Other than that unappreciative nonsense, good selection of gin.
Edit: downgrading to 1 star based on the response, which is an outright lie. I spoke at the bar when I went to order (not knowing I could not) and said, “so, no food… but food at 1pm” and they replied, “no, it would be a bit after.” The point being they could’ve put out a sign and been more aggressive with telling customers. I watched another upset customer interact with a waitress while I was there so it’s not an isolated event. This business is rolling in the luxury of having top ratings when it should be much less. In an environment of so many choices, they need to step up.
Edit #2: Yes, the industry changes and you can't keep up. Your lack of business ethics in a low standard, crowded environment goes unnoticed by many - just not me. It will catch up with you. It...
