For the first meal in Barcelona we tried this restaurant. It's more a pub/bar than a restaurant to be honest - the TV screens showing football and most customers drinking should have been a sign of things to come. I don't usually like this atmosphere but we were starving. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly and guided us to our table. The prices were a little higher than the competition so I expected good quality food but was disappointed. We ordered Paella De Marisco, something we tasted for the first time and it was bland, the seafood didn't taste very fresh and the rice was badly undercooked. We ordered a Hamburger (Hamberguesa Alta Galcia) and it was pink and cold in the middle and not tasty either - we stopped eating this. We ordered Pinchos a la Plancha (grilled meat which came without skewers) and this tasted weakly seasoned and used one kind of low quality chewy meat -- I didn't finish this. The only thing that tasted about right was the Patatas Bravas with a spicy dip sauce. This experience almost put us off paella altogether but we tried again at another place and the difference was remarkable. Another thing to add to this review was that our food didn't come at the same time and some of us had to wait considerably longer...
Read moreAlta Galicia is a great choice for lunch or dinner, especially if you’re in the mood for a unique dining experience. This is a Galician restaurant with a touch of Central Asia. One of the highlights of dining here is the opportunity to enjoy a hookah after your meal, adding a relaxing and aromatic finish to your evening.
The variety of food offered is commendable, and the satisfied expressions on the faces of other diners confirmed the quality of the dishes. You can find all the most popular fish dishes from Spain. During our visit, we opted for a steak dinner and were not disappointed. A word of caution: if you order a regular steak, it arrives on a hot plate, so the meat continues to cook at your table. This method can change the doneness of your steak if left too long, but the meat itself was absolutely wonderful—tender and flavorful.
The location of Alta Galicia is another plus. The restaurant boasts a pleasant view of the street, with ample space to enjoy a summer breeze. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable.
The staff were friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall dining experience. In summary, Alta Galicia provides a pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service, making it a worthy dining destination...
Read moreI recently dined at Alta Galicia in Barcelona and had an exceptional experience! The seafood was absolutely incredible – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I recommend the octopus! We had it grilled and with potatoes. The salad was just as flavorful. Also, it goes without saying that the cava sangria is a must!!! This isn't your tipical tapas bar. Each dish was a delightful journey of taste that left us wanting more! A special mention goes to Daniel and the rest of the staff, whose friendly and attentive service made our visit even more enjoyable. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience. See pictures! I would also like to mention that their bathrooms were impecable. ADA aproved and at ground level. The restaurant was also comfortably air conditioned (to those looking to cool off during the summer). I highly recommend Alta Galicia for anyone looking to enjoy top-notch seafood and warm, welcoming service in Barcelona. We can't...
