Can Recasens is a legend. They completely changed my definition of charcuterie. They consistently deliver a meat and cheese board that is bigger than your head. Please be conservative when ordering, because you can take the leftovers home but they don't always travel well. If you want stuff to take away, the front hall of the restaurant where they keep all the goodies also does a retail service. That means it gets crowded with people waiting in line, but it's so cool to stand there getting visually overwhelmed by a literal wall of various cheeses, and cured meats hanging in every possible space. Best to go a bit earlier than you want to eat, to put your name on the waiting list and then wander on the rambla de Poble Nou for a few if it might be a while; but sometimes the line is faster than you expect. Reservation is better if more than 4 people.

Also I know this is a charcuterie place but do not let that allow you to miss the salads. They are very generous with a rich array of toppings. I love the one with duck 'jamon', which is basically duck cured the way a fancy cured iberico would be, and sliced similarly. My SO is vegetarian, and so some of the meaty charm of this place is lost on him, but he still very much enjoys the amazing array on the cheese board, and usually orders the salad with goat cheese. It has a grilled 'steak' of goat brie on top, OMG, yes!

They are well known, if out of the way (compared to the city center), used to serving both locals and tourists, and ready with menus in your choice of languages. The dining areas are labyrinthine, so even with a great many tables, you still enjoy an intimate atmosphere. Bottles of wine are well priced. The staff is highly professional. This is a really classy old-world kind of place and will never go...

I have been going here for over 5 years. Recasens used to be my favorite restaurant in Barcelona, and I always take friends and family here when they visit me. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to continue going. Over the last couple years, I'm not sure what has happened. The food is still usually quite good, maybe the quality has decreased a bit. But what has decreased the most is the quality of service. The waiters used to be excellent. Now, it seems like they are hired just for being attractive young males and seem to have zero experience waiting. I was shocked eating here yesterday that not only had they run out of my favorite wine, but when I asked for a similar alternative, the waiter asked me what grapes that one had and then was not sure what to recommend. When I specifically asked about another wine from the same region, he said he hadn't tried it. How is it possible in a restaurant that specializes in wine the waiter doesn't know how to recommend a good wine?? What's more, while the waiter was friendly, there was a long wait to order and it was difficult to find him when we wanted anything else. They stuck us in the corner where they keep the wines, so every time a waiter had to find a wine, they were staring and reaching past us.

So, I feel bad about leaving a poor review, as I used to adore this place. However, I can no longer recommend Recasens to visitors and I really hope the management will see this and other negative reviews and consider being more stringent in hiring quality servers, and reducing the feeling of chaos in...

I recently visited Can Recasens in Barcelona and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. This cozy restaurant is tucked away in the Gracia neighborhood and offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The menu at Can Recasens is full of delicious Catalan dishes, and the ingredients are sourced locally and of the highest quality. I started with a plate of the famous Iberian ham, which was sliced paper-thin and simply melted in my mouth. For my main course, I opted for large chartreuse meat and cheese board, which was assembled to perfection.

The wine list at Can Recasens is extensive, and the knowledgeable staff are more than happy to help you choose the perfect pairing for your meal. I tried a glass of red wine recommended by my waiter, and it was the perfect complement to my meal.

The service at Can Recasens is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who are happy to make recommendations and ensure that you have a great dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with plenty of character and charm.

Overall, I would highly recommend Can Recasens to anyone looking for an authentic Catalan dining experience in Barcelona. The food, wine, and service are all exceptional, and the cozy atmosphere makes for a truly...

Evidentemente no volveremos.
