I absolutely have to disagree with some of the reviews here below 4 stars. This place is fabulous, so are the people working there. If you treat the staff with respect, they will treat you very nicely. As it is a very popular place for lunch and dinner, it is highly recommended to reserve a table. If you don't you will either wait a long time or not get a table at all. We went last week for the first time and we were lucky to snag a table inside, which was totally fine as we got to watch the kitchen and bar staff do their magic. We went for a 2nd time this weekend and had the same positive experience. The food is fantastic and it's absolutely not a tourist tapas spot as suggested by others. They have a digital English menu, so it's unfair to say they do not like to have foreigners there. The restaurant is slightly outside of the beaten path, which means locals will also eat here. The prices are absolutely fair, considering everything is fresh and they put their own twist on things compared to most tapas places, e.g, the tortilla de patata is made to order and has truffle in it. The mussels are to die for and the pan con tomate is one of the best the city has to offer (and it's not one of those, which you have to make on your own, which has become a trend in the city and I'm not a fan). Other delicious items they currently have on offer are the fantastic bikini with Iberico ham and truffle and a miso-glaced eggplant (not sure how they make this one, but it's delicious). I can highly recomment Bar...

It might look like any other bar in the area (alrhough you notice a cool oldish style if you look carefully at it), but it isn't at all. Bar Alegria has a century behind delivering excellent small dishes.

They work through ever changing menu and you get what is in fornthe day on the whiteboard. Obviously you can always trust there will be a bunch of classics like their truffle omelette, their ham&cheese sandwich (very special as well) or their russian salada.

No matter the dish you will choose I'm positive it will be good. They are quite small though, so consider at least 2 per person if you want to get a full meal. This means also that the bill will be higher that the average in the area. Also worth to share some of their awesome desserts: their cheesecake and their mascarpone and pistachio are mind-blowing!

Service good enough.

The location is honestly terrible: Gran Via is one of the traffic busiest streets in Barcelona, so terrace is a choice of you are the one facing the restaurant :-)

BARCELONA GEM 🤤 📍 Eixample Esquerre, Barcelona ⭐️ 5/5 💸 €€ 🍴Nestled in the heart of #Barcelona, this iconic Vermuteria has been serving up magic since 1899. Equal parts tapas bar, bistro-gourmet, and lively rumba haven, it’s a must-visit for locals and travellers alike. I’ve been here countless times with my family, and every trip back home, I can’t resist stopping by. Here are the top 5 must-try dishes: 1️⃣ Autumn #Cannelloni – A seasonal delight that redefines comfort food with its rich, velvety flavours. 2️⃣ Rooftop Smokehouse #Anchovy Toast – A perfect marriage of bold anchovy and luscious smoked butter. 3️⃣ Russian #Salad with Bread – Classic, creamy, and an irresistible nod to tradition. 4️⃣ The Signature #Truffle Omelette – Fluffy, aromatic, and decadently indulgent. 5️⃣ Homemade #Desserts – End your meal with the unforgettable homemade flan (my personal favourite), or their luscious “La Viña”-style cheesecake paired with homemade jam. If you’re heading to Barcelona, don’t miss this spot. Go, savour, and let me know what...
