Bar El Pepino — Restaurant in Barcelona

This restaurant was a very special experience for us. From the service, to the ambiance, to the FOOD. We started off with a bottle of a delicious natural wine that the connoisseur suggested based on our preferences. It was so lovely and paired perfectly with the food - we ended up ordering another. The bread arrived, along with a salted butter that was already out of this world - our excitement spiked as it set the expectations high for the rest of the meal. We then ordered several dishes from the menu recommended by the friendly and talented chef that visited our table, and were blown away by each and every one. The carbonara was authentic, the beef tartar was beautifully assembled, and the croquetas de calçots were something I never knew I needed in my life. We ended with digestives and some creamy, sweet, decadent desserts, and left with huge smiles on our faces. ★☆☆☆☆ If I could give zero stars, I would – unacceptable service

This was hands down one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The waiter was rude from the moment we arrived – barely greeted us and kept us waiting a long time before even taking our order. I ordered the angilotti with shrimp, which was listed as a main course but came out as a tiny portion, more like a starter.

When we politely pointed this out, the waiter raised his voice and snapped, saying “everyone else is happy,” instead of showing any kind of professionalism or willingness to help. We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we ended up leaving the restaurant in the middle of our meal.

Coming from a restaurant family myself, I know how important respectful and professional service is – this was the complete opposite. A deeply unpleasant and disappointing experience. I absolutely do not...

This place is very special indeed! The food was absolutely delicious but the service is the best service I have ever received in Barcelona.

They are so attentive; really talk to you about your likes and dislikes for both the food and the wine. The chef came over to as if we liked the steak and gave us the dessert on the house as it took a little while to come out. 10/10 so friendly and spectacular.

The food is stunning! all of the dishes are really well balanced in terms of flavours and I would recommend getting around 4 plates between 2 people. Wine is delicious - great spot if you like natural wines. The corvina and the torrijas particularly stood out to me as favourites but everything was delicious, I don’t think you could go wrong ordering here.
