Barnabier — Restaurant in Barcelona

This restaurant doesn’t respect the privacy rights of its customers: I was filmed in the restaurant by an other guest, who was on his own and doing a continuous coverage of his visit with his smartphone at the next table by filming. I didn’t mind him doing this, but I don’t like getting filmed and I told him to stop filming me. When paying the bill I was told by the waiter that getting filmed is something happening everywhere from everyone and I should accept this as the other customer complained about my comments towards him. Dear Owner, please train your staff on the legal framework. I would recommend to you to read the European Convention on Human Rights which was violated and is also applicable in Spain. If a person doesn’t want to get filmed nobody should film her/him. The other guest was acting against the law and you supported his intrusion into my privacy. This ruined the evening in your restaurant. I would not recommend visiting your restaurant and I don’t know why I was treated without respect and not supported by you in my rights as a human being. PS: I just told him to stop filming me, what’s rude in that. Actually I am a photographer myself and if someone tells me not to take a picture I just say OK and don’t do it. So you say there were no films of me on his smartphone 😂😂😂 - he would be stupid not to delete them before complaining to you. Came here 8 years ago and had a fab paella. I know that was a long time ago and maybe chefs have changed and the restaurant may have changed hands. But the food was awful this evening. You’re supposed to have the best paella in the area. You did 8 years ago. But today it was awful. My wife is a chef and could have made a better one! Who puts a whole chicken leg in a traditional paella!? How can you go so wrong with a traditional Spanish dish??? It was bland and rice was under cooked!! Not impressed and very disappointed. Ordered two expresso martini cocktails and the glasses were filled half full! Wasn’t even a full glass! The only good thing was the red wine we ordered! Then the waiter had the nerve to tell us how much it was and pressure us into a tip!! We weren’t going to leave a tip but felt pressured into doing so which is so wrong! You shouldn’t be doing that! The food was great, but the best part of this place was the service.

We went to eat there late at night and were in outdoor seating. A couple came in and one of the two bumped into my seat while settling into their seat.

Our waitress, Marisol, instantly noticed that my backpack had mysteriously opened and my wallet was about to fall out. She shamelessly called them out for trying to pickpocket me and immediately kicked them out.

She honestly saved my vacation and I’m so thankful that the waitstaff there have their customers’ best interest in mind.

This is not to say that this place attracts thieves. Theft can happen anywhere, and tourists are targets for this almost everywhere. But I was entirely impressed by the way the situation was handled.
