Nova Icaria beach — Attraction in Barcelona

I took my two daughters and my mother here for a day at the beach. It was good and bad. Maybe not really bad, just confusing.

It cost €45 for two chairs and a broken umbrella that would not stay all the way up. I find that a bit expensive, but I’m not a beach person, so maybe it was ok.

The bar on the beach was expensive, but not outrageous.

I asked the security guard if I can drink on the beach - he said yes. The overhead announcements made me think otherwise, but I figured the security guy who was enforcing the rules was okay with it.

They had people walking up and down on the beach offering cheaper beer than the bar. Apparently only some of them can sell. I’m not sure which ones, but the security guy chased some away.

I met sone amazing kids (31 year olds), from Birmingham who were absolutely amazing and friendly.

The water was awesome. The sand too.

Oh, I totally get it! Having high hopes for Barcelona Beach is totally natural. It's a bummer that people are smoking on a smoke-free beach – that can spoil the vibe for sure.

And no working showers? Ugh, that's a hassle when you want to freshen up after a dip in the sea. It'd be so much better with functioning facilities.

And that strange smell all over the beach? Not cool at all. It takes away from the lovely beach atmosphere you'd expect.

But hey, don't worry too much! It happens, and sometimes things don't turn out as we hope. Maybe leaving some feedback could help them improve the beach experience for everyone. Fingers crossed they can make some positive changes for future...

A good wide beach, allowing you to choose between lying on your own towel or renting chairs or umbrellas. The police patrolled frequently. There are restaurants and toilets at the back of the beach. Even though the toilets were attended (tip expected!), by lunchtime they weren’t the best. So have some tissues and wipes of your own ready. The beach sellers were a little annoying, but a firm NO seemed to work. We were a little disappointed by the cleanliness of the beach and water. Cigarette buts everywhere, and there was plastic & face masks in the water. The water was also slightly off colour, but that could easily be the amount of people bouncing...
