UPDATE IN LIGHT OF THE RESPONSE BY THE HOTEL TO MY REVIEW -

Your response displays astonishing prevarication. My comments relating to your deficiencies in the room, such as nil suitcase racks/stands, along with fundamental facility conditions such as the ridiculous door scraping and the appalling shower fitments - are all completely accurate. It is not my job to ‘reach out’ and invite engineers plus carpenters to make my room a workplace through my stay due to your application of shocking standards of maintenance AND inspection.

As to your restaurants, you stick with your case - of course any reader of your site must be wrong, mustn’t they? - all guests plainly ARE wrong in your world/customer view.

Your staff argues with guests, and additionally did so across several emails with me, taking a lofty and arrogant tone in relation to your flawed website layout and wording. This is NOT an example of your purported ‘warmth’ and understanding/acknowledgment. Your hotel has significant flaws in its marketing and condition, added to by your staff tone and attitude. Failure to actually address these matters is your loss and naivety.

A small added ‘tip’ for you? - when apologising never (never) use ‘if’ in your wording. Try ‘that’. Never ‘if’. You’re welcome ☺️

When I have opportunity, I shall reflect all of this further upon other platforms - not just Google and ACCOR.

My review -

A Five-Star Farce: Sofitel Barcelona Skipper Is a Masterclass in Disappointment

If you’re looking for a luxury experience in Barcelona, steer clear of the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper—unless you’re conducting a case study in how a hotel can spectacularly fail at the basics.

🛠️ Maintenance? What Maintenance? From the moment you enter your room, you’re greeted by doors that drag across the floor like wounded beasts. Opening them requires brute force and a prayer. The shower head looks like it hasn’t been inspected since the early 2000s—calcified, misaligned, and barely functional. It’s as if the hotel is actively trying to make hygiene a challenge.

💡 Tech That Tries—and Fails The so-called “intelligent” lighting system is a laughable attempt at modernity. One switch toggles everything on or off, and the dimmer? A crude dial that doesn’t actually dim. It’s all flash and no function. The room phone crackles like a campfire and distorts voices into garbled nonsense, making even a simple call to reception feel like a scene from a Cold War spy film.

🧳 Slipshod Service and Missing Basics Need a suitcase stand? Good luck. Apparently, basic amenities are optional here. The room setup feels like someone forgot to finish the job—and no one bothered to check. The website proudly boasts two restaurants, but in reality, there’s one modest tapas bar and a breakfast buffet area that barely qualifies as a second venue. Misleading advertising at its finest.

😡 Staff That Argue, Not Assist The most jarring aspect of the stay was the staff’s attitude. Instead of hospitality, guests are met with condescension and defensiveness. Any request or concern is treated like an interrogation. You’re not speaking to hotel staff—you’re negotiating with prison guards. The tone is shocking, and the lack of professionalism is downright insulting.

🍸 One Saving Grace: The Rooftop Bar Amidst this chaos, the rooftop bar stands as the lone beacon of hope. The staff here are courteous, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. It’s the only part of the hotel that feels remotely like the five-star experience they claim to offer. A late-night drink here almost made us forget the rest of the ordeal—almost.

Final Verdict: Sofitel Barcelona Skipper is a triumph of style over substance, where poor maintenance, misleading marketing, and a toxic staff culture combine to create a truly regrettable experience. Save your money, your patience, and your...

A Luxurious Oasis with Stunning Sea Views - Sofitel Barcelona Skipper Review

If you seek an unforgettable stay in Barcelona, look no further than the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper. This exquisite hotel truly exceeded my expectations, offering an exceptional blend of sophistication, comfort, and breathtaking views of the sea. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew I was in for a treat.

The Rooms: The tastefully decorated rooms were a testament to the hotel's commitment to elegance and luxury. The attention to detail in the interior design was evident, with a seamless combination of modern aesthetics and classic charm. The comfortable beds embraced me like a cloud, providing the perfect haven after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights was the spacious walk-in closet, which kept everything organized and clutter-free.

The Bathroom: The large bathroom was a sanctuary in itself, boasting double sinks that allowed for ample space to freshen up. The separate soaking tub and shower were both indulgent and practical, providing options for a quick rinse or a relaxing soak. The luxurious toiletries provided added a delightful touch to the whole experience.

Rooftop Pool and Bar: The crowning jewel of the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper was undoubtedly its rooftop pool and bar. Ascending to the rooftop, I was met with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Lounging by the pool with a refreshing drink from the rooftop bar was an absolute pleasure.

Service: The hotel staff's commitment to providing excellent service was evident from the moment I checked in until my departure. The receptionists were warm and welcoming, offering helpful tips for exploring Barcelona. The housekeeping team maintained the rooms impeccably, and any request was promptly attended to with a smile. Additionally, the concierge was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me plan excursions that perfectly complemented my interests.

In conclusion, the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper is a haven of luxury and comfort with an unbeatable location. The tastefully decorated rooms, walk-in closet, and large bathroom with double sinks and separate soaking tub and shower offer the perfect sanctuary for travelers seeking relaxation. The rooftop pool and bar are simply mesmerizing, providing an extraordinary vantage point to soak in the beauty of Barcelona's coastline. Above all, the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff truly sets this establishment apart. Without a doubt, I highly recommend the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper to anyone looking to experience the finest hospitality in this...

From the moment we arrived at Sofitel Skipper Barcelona, it was clear that we were in for something special. As someone who travels frequently and often seeks a balance between comfort, efficiency, and atmosphere, I can confidently say that our experience here was truly exceptional in every regard.

The Welcome The reception was warm, professional, and sincere—exactly what you hope for after arriving in a new city. The check-in process was seamless, and the staff made us feel not only welcomed but genuinely cared for. It was clear that hospitality here isn’t a checklist—it’s part of the culture.

The Staff What truly stood out throughout our stay was the team. Every interaction—with reception, housekeeping, the restaurant, and even casual encounters in the hallway—was marked by kindness, attentiveness, and a smile. The atmosphere was elegant but never stiff, luxurious yet relaxed.

A special mention must go to the restaurant team, who did something that might sound small, but for parents traveling with teenagers, meant a lot: they made us feel so comfortable that we left the teens to enjoy dinner at the restaurant on their own. That only happens when trust, professionalism, and warmth align—and they did, perfectly. The boys loved the experience, and we appreciated the peace of mind.

The Room The rooms were immaculate—elegantly designed with attention to detail, and most importantly: spotlessly clean. Everything from the bed linens to the bathroom felt fresh, high-quality, and well-maintained. Housekeeping was discreet yet thorough, always leaving the space feeling refreshed but never intrusive.

Breakfast Done Right A well-curated selection, fresh ingredients, great coffee, and attentive staff made the start of each day smooth and enjoyable. The setting was calm, and nothing ever felt rushed.

The Overall Experience What impressed us most was the consistency of excellence. From start to finish, everything was smooth, I saw here was a hotel operating like a well-led team: everyone aligned, empowered, and attentive to the guest experience.

It’s rare to find a place that works for both relaxation and family, that feels just as comfortable for a professional retreat as it does for a joyful vacation. Sofitel Skipper manages this duality beautifully. We left refreshed, recharged, and grateful.

To the team: thank you. Your hospitality made our stay in Barcelona not just pleasant—but memorable. We’ll absolutely return, and recommend you...

Decent but worth the money? Likely not. I went during August 2024, My "ocean view room" had a view of the construction going on in the building over, I feel scammed on that aspect, I booked through the hotel and not a cheaper option thinking | would get better service or a room, not the case. This was NOT an ocean view room at all.( see picture looking out My window) I don't enjoy having office buildings looking into my windows, talk about zero privacy. Construction started every morning at 7am and ended around 7 pm during our stay which would have been nice to know before booking, Construction could be heard from our room the duration of our stay, all day, and from both pool levels, it was very obnoxious… The breakfast was good, it took a long time to receive any form of eggs, and there was also screaming children at EVERY breakfast.... The pools were ok... aside from screaming kids playing water polo in BOTH pools everyday we were there..., the one downstairs is literally falling apart, I got cut by broken tiles on my feet that are falling off the walls to the bottom of the pool ... again.. I paid 2k for 3 days for this? Get your pool fixed. Was it worth 2000$ for 3 days of listening to screaming kids & construction every time I left my room, definitely not. The only good thing about this hotel was the beds are stupid comty, and it's pretty local to most things with a great ocean near by. All the staff was lovely as well. The loud construction and screaming kids when I'm trying to treat myself for 3 days really ruined my stay at this location... If you’re coming to Barcelona with small screaming children, this could be a great place for you, if your coming to Barcelona with a loved one looking for a romantic vacation of quiet , or any thing romantic.. this might not be the hotel for you.

I booked this Sofitel hotel because of its high ratings on Ctrip, thinking, “Well, with a brand like Accor and such glowing reviews, what could go wrong?” Turns out, a lot. I walked in expecting five-star service and walked out wondering if I had checked into the wrong place. First off, the bathroom was a disaster. The shower drain was so slow it felt like a test of patience and leg strength. I had to stop the water every 20 seconds and wait 5 minutes for it to drain, just to avoid flooding the entire bathroom. What should’ve been a quick five-minute shower turned into a 40-minute endurance challenge. Honestly, I didn’t know showering could be this spiritually exhausting. Then there’s the air conditioner. It buzzed nonstop throughout the night like it was auditioning for a role in a horror movie. Sleep? Impossible. When I brought these issues up to the hotel staff, I wasn’t met with an apology, but rather a shrug and a “Well, you should’ve told us earlier—we could’ve fixed it in 30 seconds.” Oh really? You guys take over an hour to bring up a toothbrush, and now you’re claiming you could fix plumbing in half a minute? That’s some magical hotel engineering I must’ve missed. The cherry on top? Because I was delayed by the broken bathroom and came down 10 minutes late for checkout, the front desk started blowing up my phone like I was squatting in the room for free. Maybe try fixing the room first before policing check-out times like debt collectors? To sum it up: fancy branding, useless facilities, and a service attitude that treats guests like they’re the problem. I came here expecting a Sofitel experience and ended up in what felt more like a slapstick parody of a luxury hotel. Never again.

Booked this hotel as of a friends recommendation. The check-in was easy and uncomplicated and they gave us the room earlier which was a great service. During the introduction they told us that the roof top pool is constantly and the whole year heated, which was not true as also other team members confirmed. There the operations manager needs to train the team in terms of correct information for the guests as we heard couple of other people complaining about the pool. The breakfast was very nice and delicious. The room was clean but nothing special for a so called five star hotel. Needed to call several times, for new towels, water and a second clothes rack as someone forgot to forward our call. All in all was ok but they (the manager) has homework to do, not to scare/put off too much potential customers. Would be nice to consider to get a welcome drink, even if it’s a glass of water with a lemon in etc. shows kind of interest in the customers who are spending 400€+ for a night.
