This was a recommendation from people in UK, oh boy, what a gem this place is.
Hidden in the backstreets of Barcelona, this place on walking upto it doesn't look all that impressive but as soon as you appear in, this place was buzzing with people. Probably caters for approx 70 sittings and it was full, it was a Sunday evening, there were local asian families as well as tourists of all kind.
We were lucky, there was seating available and we were taken to it straightaway. This place is by no means of a comfortable, quiet ambience but more of a cafeteria, get your food, eat and get out.
We ordered : 2x samoosas, Schwarma in naan Mixed Kebab Grill Platter Chicken Curry (comes with 1 naan) 1 extra Naan Salad 3 x Drinks.
We had done a lot of travelling on our 2nd day @ Barcelona, hadn't eaten much during the day, hence a feast for 3 of us.
Once we ordered, the food started to come in dribs and drabs. Within 5 minutes of ordering, first came the chicken curry, 5 mins later the Kebabs Platter, 5 mins later the samoosas and at the end the schwarma. Not the order that we had liked to have received it but they are so busy they bring food out as soon as ready. Also, you had to ask the servant a few times for things, ie Salads and the extra naan we ordered.
However, service aside, the food was absolutely amazing. The spiciness was just right and everything tasted fresh. The food comes out piping hot. We all loved it. My favourite was the chicken curry, eaten with the soft fluffy naan was just what we wanted.
The bonus at the end was that it only cost €31. Just couldn't believe the price.
I highly, highly recommend this place, I am sure all food items on their extensive menu will taste good, a must try if you are @ Barcelona and you are craving for fresh...
Read moreThis was a good find thanks to some YouTube Blogger, its situated away from the main hustle and bustle of Barcelona. About a 15 minute walk from Catalunya. The restaurant is easy to find using a bit of Google magic.
The new live view is superb for these types of routes. The road the restaurant is based on has a number of other cafes and patisseries. On arrival at the restaurant it had a long queue and the restaurant tables were all literally full. I managed to get a table, they don't have menu's so you have to look at the board above the counter before sitting down as the waiter takes your order at the table.
It's all Pakistani food, theres kebabs, shawarma, curries served with rice or nans. The food arrived quite quickly, everything was fresh, salad was crisp, nans were soft and rice was cooked right. The shawarma was nice, wasn't spicy tasted alot like tandoori chicken but shredded. The doner meat was plain, it wasn't greasy and tasted fine. The meat ball curry was on the bland side, lacked spice.
The food all came to a reasonable €21 which was reasonable considering the amount of food and quality, you could easily spend more than that for 3 trashy meals at a chain. Service was good, food was good, the facilities were clean. If you fancy a fresh Pakistani style meal give these guys a try. Lost one star for me as the food...
Read moreUsually they are okay but today exemplified the worse of Barcelona. I was about to be served when a guy behind me / a local, asked for the last of the meatballs. When I asked for them the server said they were finished when obviously they weren't, I could see them, and I was infront of the other customer, but he assumed I couldn't understand Spanish. That's wrong anywhere, but also, I live a street away /am also a regular (not Spanish) and come here all the time too. They offered instead lamb curry, which I accepted, it was the last of the lamb curry and saw when I got home that it was mostly bones. It was not on the menu and so of course cost more than any of their listed menu. What really annoys me about this is that it's becoming more and more common in Barcelona. Places that are your regular go-to stops, but that don't have any integrity. They could have just thrown in some chicken or whatever to make a normal portion, they could have served me first as I was first, they could have not made up a higher price, instead they play games, assume I'm a tourist and have a hierarchy or customers, and have lost a regular...
