Chula Vista Raval — Restaurant in Barcelona

Upon my triumphant return to the vibrant streets of Barcelona, "Fat Schmuck" beckoned like a siren song from yonder. This diner has etched itself in my culinary itinerary as a beacon of delectably unapologetic fare with a mischievous edge, complemented by concoctions that push the cocktail envelope.

This soiree, I was serenaded by the "Bloody Mario"—an audacious reimagining of the classic Bloody Mary, where the ripe crimson of tomatoes yielded to the earthy allure of beets. As for the entrée, the marriage of fried chicken with waffles was nothing short of revelatory. Enveloped in a bold, spicy sauce and crowned with ice cream, every bite was a crescendo of flavors; a veritable symphony in one's mouth.

But the finale? A heartwarming freshly-baked apple pie, escorted by yet another scoop of velvety ice cream, and harmonized by a banana slushy cocktail—every morsel, a poetic ode to indulgence.

The very lifeblood of this establishment, Samantha, navigated the bustling diner with an elegance reminiscent of a seasoned maestro, ensuring every patron—myself included—felt seen and celebrated. And as if this sensory feast wasn't enough, the air pulsated with an electric playlist: a potent mix of '70s nostalgia, gritty grunge, and resounding rock, featuring maestros from Beck and Moby to the iconic strains of Toto. Fat Schmuck isn't just a dining...

It was a horrible experience. I saw that a place has really nice terrace and decided to visit. I asked for a coffee and they brought it in 10 minutes in a very dirty cup! Unfortunately, I didn't make a picture because I didn't think that I will have more issues later on...So the cup had dried coffee all over it, outside and inside and it was obvious that they just didn't wash it as the fresh spilled coffee would look differently. I patiently asked for a change and instead of giving me a new one the lady brought the same cup and just cleaned a little bit on one side but the rest of the cup and inside it was so dirty!!! I asked another waitress to change it and she was proving me that the cup was CLEAN! That's insane, I was with friends and everybody noticed how DIRTY it was. Finally she took the coffee away and disappeared. In 25 minutes I asked for my coffee again and she obviously forgot. In 10 more minutes she brought me new one, THREW IT without even looking at me. That was insane! If I had not my friends with me I would go straight to general manager. I will never go back there, that was the most terrible service I experienced in Barcelona. Very dirty place with unsanitary conditions and mean stuff!!!

Visited with my family; there was no space outside so had to eat in. The tables are bar height so had to sit on high stools, which was very uncomfortable, especially for a middle age women with a bad back. The bar inside the restaurant had bar stools with a back rest, so I asked the waitress if I could swap the seats; she said this was fine. Only to be told by a rude waiter 10 minutes later that I had to get off the stool and return it to the bar area as this is privilege seating for people sat at the bar. There was nobody sat at the bar and 8 chairs free! I explained that we asked and had permission to do this, which he replied the waitress shouldn't have told us we could and she's new so didn't know what she was doing. My family spent over €100 in this place but I was not privileged enough to have a stool with a back rest! The only good thing I enjoyed...
