Read moreRude, unaccommodating and condescending service. Unworthy of its Michelin star. Too bad because their food is great.
To the Dos Palillos team,
I wanted to share feedback on our dinner experience last night. Although our actual food was great, we were frustrated by the RUDE, unaccommodating and condescending service we received from most of your staff (except our actual server, who tried his best after our initial feedback). We were about to walk out, but we’re hungry and didn’t want to deal with finding another place to eat. Frankly it’s embarrassingly bad and bad for any level restaurant, let alone one bearing a Michelin star. Here are five specific ways that your service is was terrible:
When we made a reservation online, it was unclear that we would not be able order a la carte instead of just a la carte (since both options are on your web site). The pricing and menu should have been included in your email. If we knew this we wouldn’t have come to your restaurant in the first place to meet your rude staff. When we walked in and asked about a la carte or sitting at the bar instead, multiple people on your staff (especially a taller, dark haired gentleman) scoffed at us and told us there was no way to change this, zero attempts to accommodate and frankly told us if we didn’t like this we should give up our deposit and leave. This guy also told us there was no menu when clearly there was because we received one 2 min later. You should consider asking this gentlemen and anyone involved to reconsider their line of work in SERVICE. We were not told that we all had to order the same tasting menu, when we wanted to do two 90e menus and two 110e menus. Clearly this is physically possible given there’s two menus, but I had to ask our waiter 3 times to see if this would be ok and he refused to even check. Once again, rude and subpar service. The tasting menus we were shown differed from what we received. There was a different, printed menu we were given later — why show a different menu and serve different food? Once again, poor experience. We specified one guest had a bi-valve shellfish (ie. clams, mussels, etc) allergy, and this wasn’t properly communicated to the kitchen. The waiter did resolve this quickly but this could have been dangerous if a different allergy mixup occurred.
I hope that you can retrain or hire new service staff that can represent your restaurant and delicious...
Read moreThis was one of the worst meals I’ve ever paid for, especially considering the wait, temperature (we were outside and it was 50 f or 12 c for 3 hours), price, and they forgot my partner’s birthday after I and they texted the day before about them doing something at the end for her and they said / suggested they would!
First, the temperature outside: I am NEVER cold. I wear shorts all year round even in January. It was freezing cold and we were outside three hours. We spent 2.5 hours of the three hours just sitting around waiting for plates to arrive. It was way too cold to serve people on the patio tonight. I was miserable cold and did not enjoy it at all. In the website it said it would be “winterized” and comfortable, it was not at all and I had the heater right behind my back with pants and a long sleeve shirt and my partner had a huge coat and was still cold.
The time: it was 3 hours of dinner but they did not serve the amount of food or # of courses necessary for it to take that long. I felt like I had very little food and sat around waiting in the cold for three hours. The server was very nice and great but it was all way too slow, probably not his fault!
The food: it was not enough food and most of it was not good. The costilla and bao was great; so was the temperature tomato and matching cocktail but that was just a fried cherry tomato..; they had a nice fried artichoke as well. Most of the rest, not so much. I left several things un eaten and my partner ate some items she did not want to not waste it. I eat food from all over, it just wasn’t very good. Smoked cheesecake was gross Bc the smoke; mochi was very bitter and not good. Croquettes were ruined because that thickener you used to replace the flour to make it “Japanese” made it have a terrible texture.
THEY FORGOT MY PARTNERS BIRTHDAY SURPRISE! They said they would do something for her but they didn’t. Ruined her birthday dinner.
I’ve been to multiple Michelin restaurants in multiple countries; I still have a headache because we didn’t have hardly any protein in the meal and I was still hungry after 2 hours being there until they finally brought a small fatty rib with a piece of steamed bread before bringing four terrible desserts: bitter mochi, smoked cheesecake that taste like burned wood, a hard piece of frozen chocolate, and some...
