Roux Bar — Restaurant in Barcelona

Unassuming but super friendly and delicious! We were hungry before the usual Barcelona dinner hour and found Roux Bar near where we were staying in Eixample. Lucky for us because it was such a hidden gem! Good drink options including the house cava and by extension the cava sangria plus other affordable wine and cocktail options.

Where Roux Bar really shined was the food. Every dish we ordered was great, with the standouts being the daily specials (ceviche, marinated chicken and daily fish (rooster fish on potato puree today)). Even the simple boquerones (white anchovies cured in vinegar and olive oil) were great. The food is excellent and the owners are amazing, fun people. The sangria is phenomenal. I think I might have to return a third time during this trip just for another glass. We sat at the bar and watched as Slavko prepared the food. He was happy to share his experience and techniques with us. We ordered the chevapciche and they were fantastic. The fried eggplant and Patatas Roux were excellent as well. There is a large variety on the menu and honestly no matter what you pick you will truly have a delicious meal and a great time. Everything you want in a bar: attentive, friendly service; a varied selection of items to eat with your drink. It isn’t a restaurant, but the platter of fuet i olives, and the plate of traditional Spanish callos are just perfect to snack on and unwind with a drink, outside or inside. The atmosphere is clean, classy and relaxing, like a romantic movie. Go on a Friday evening and enjoy live music that does not distract from conversation and isn’t too loud, just good sincere music.
