Blah food, but come for the atmosphere, speed, decor, and view. I wish Madrid had a cafeteria like this 😭

There are a dozen food options, but not too many so making a choice is difficult. Mainly classic Spanish fare with some 'healthy' lighter items like salad bar. Food is already prepared, so you see exactly what you get and pay before you sit, so it's great if you're anxious about language barrier.

The cafeteria is clean because it's well staffed, it's new and nicely decorated, with a great view of the main street. It was busy during dinner, so seating for a group might be difficult. Only food line was for the dessert and coffee station.

Food - the seafood paella isn't pescetarian! 😭 Lukewarm, but the staff made sure every portion had a good mix of seafood, including the big prawn. Wish they trimmed it better because I picked out many small pieces of shrimp antennas, like the top left...

La Plaça Gourmet Cafeteria, located on the top floor of El Corte Ingles in Plaça de Catalunya, offers a stunning view of the whole square from the windows, making it a great spot to enjoy your coffee while taking in the view.

The coffee served at La Plaça Gourmet Cafeteria is very good, and we found ourselves going back for more during our visit. The cakes were also quite tasty, and we enjoyed trying a few different options.

However, one downside to this cafeteria is that it can get quite crowded, which made it difficult to find a table to sit at during our visit. This can make the experience feel a bit rushed and overwhelming, especially during peak hours.

Overall, La Plaça Gourmet Cafeteria is a great spot to grab a coffee and take in the view of Plaça de Catalunya. The coffee and cakes are good, but be aware that it can get crowded, which may impact...

I have never been treated like this in my life as I have been treated in La Placa. I had a Cabreiroa bottle of water with me when I walked in the place. I had 2 paellas and went to the register area to pay. After the payment, the guy at tge register stopped my wife by holding her by her arm and started asking me if I paid for the water. Problem was that they were selling the same branded water. I kept telling him that I have brought it with me and he kept asking me if I paid for it like I am stealing a bottle of water from them. I can understand the guy to a certain point, but this was way too much as he called his manager for that bottle of water and I had to prove to the manager as I brought the bottle of water with me. Think how tasty the food was after that.. well, what I can say; shame on you Corte Inglese, La Placa,...

This place is more about the ambience than the food. The vegetarian options are limited if you are looking for anything besides pizza. The local definition of vegetarian includes sea food so that needs to be further specified. The Paella could have used more vegetables and less oil. The aroma of herbs that I associate with the dish was also missing, but that may perhaps be because it is more a canteen format, with food preprepared behind the counter for anyone to pick. The Eclair (and the dessert counter) however, was excellent. The seating is expansive, so finding room is not an issue, but the ideal position by the windows overlooking the main square tend to be pretty busy, and can be reserved. That is where you want to be sitting.

The place is on the top floor of El Corte Ingles which is a massive store for any and everything you can think of. You could spend a day on each floor. You have lots of food and drinks options including alcoholic. We went for dessert 😋 since we weren't that hungry. The carrot cake was the best, then the chocolate filled pastry & apples croissant tart. The bottle of chocolate milk was awesome just needed to be on ice to keep it colder. The lady was not friendly at all as I tried to ask questions about a couple of desserts. I'm not fluent Spanish but my spanglish get my point across okay. She was Spanish only so that's my low service score.
