Old station.
The metro station is easier to understand than the train station.
The train station of Rodalies Renfe is very confusing. I suggest getting inside from the Ronda Universitat entrance besides a coffee shop /restaurant and near H&M. It is closer to the metro entrance and railway machines and employees. The information desk and the tickets sale has always a line of people. It feels suffocating hot inside. The monitors coming down the stairs I mentioned are the most useful ones as you have one monitor for the timetables and another for the train stops. Sitting is escarce. In the stairs I mentioned there is always a homeless man, living there at least since 2013 that I use this station and entrance, that obstructs half the width of the stairs and he has obvious mental illnesses. There is security inside the station but you feel so unsafe. In the -2 basement floor that you go in or out the trains, I have never seen security. It is also not sufficiently lit.
You need your ticket to open the barriers and leave the station which is horrible when you have sooo many people trying to leave at the same time.
In general, I hope you have lots of patience if you use Rodalies Renfe.
The train station for Ferrocarrils Catalans (FGC i think are the initials), that is, the train that moved inside the city, is way better.
If you download an app for trains, the best is called ADF. You select a station and it tells you which trains will leave or arrive and when. And as they are always late, it is the most helpful tool.
I include a video of the entrance I think is...
Read moreThere is a information attendant with long hair that absolutely must hate his job there. A little while ago I had a simple question (nothing difficult that wouldnt take more than a second) and he really looked bothered, even the tone of his voice and the expression on his face. I figured well poor guy maybe had a bad day, but today AGAIN! The train I was taking was running quite late and I went to ask if he knew what was going on and another lady who was down at the platform waiting came up as well and saw me talking to the attendant and joined in to ask. I really wondered if he was even drunk, he even slurs his words and leans back like he is doing me a favor of a life time and I am an begging for this favor. So many people looking for work, at least give someone who can fake a decent personality! Especially when people are not rude to him. I am curious how he behaves when people are actually...
Read moreThe metro is a fantastic way to get around Barcelona. Easy to use. Very clean. Very fast. Trains were always on time. If you are buying tickets as a tourist. I advise going into the station. Look for the red colour machines. Buy tickets from these with cash as contactless or card doesn’t work. They can be changed to English too. We paid €26 each for an unlimited 72 hour pass. We travelled all over Barcelona. Saves getting taxis. Stations everywhere. Very busy between 8 and 10 in the morning. Be wary of pick pockets in busy times. We never had any issues but were warned constantly. Wear back packs on the front etc. keep phones and wallets in...
