La Roda — Restaurant in Barcelona

Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. There is no hospitality to be found here.

Once seated, it was around 25 minutes+ before even a drink order was taken. We were about to leave because it didn't set our expectations high for the meal and at this point we hadn't even been acknowledged other than to be sat, but the waiter arrived and it was late so we just ordered.

We waited patiently for the drinks to arrive but this must have taken an additional 15 minutes. This wouldn't have been the end of the world if we hadn't already sat for so long. After being in the restaurant for around 40 minutes, our drinks were finally dumped on the table, without even an apology or so much as a smile. The food came shortly after.

Not too long after the food came, I had finished my drink and the waiter took the glass from the table without pausing to ask if I'd like another or check to see how the food was. This was the last interaction we had with him.

We waited for about 15 painful minutes after finishing the meal, hoping he would return from the back of house area so we could pay and leave. There was no visible member of staff front of house for this period. When he did finally come out of the kitchen, he walked onto the bar, made eye contact and sat up on the back bar. Wanting nothing more than to just end the evening and get out of there, we walked up to the bar and paid and left.

The service was the worst I've had in any restaurant in years. The staff ignored every opportunity to make us feel welcome and consequently ignored every opportunity to increase our spend there. My family and I recently dined at La Roda resta and overall, we had a pleasant experience—except for one significant issue. The outdoor seating was charming, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Our orders were served promptly and tasted great, except for my son's steak.

The moment the steak was brought to him, flies started swarming around. This was unusual and concerning. When my son smelled the steak, it had a foul odor, which was extremely off-putting. He stopped eating and asked the chef about it. We were informed that their fridge had been malfunctioning, causing the meat to thaw.

While I appreciate the honesty, this is a serious food safety concern. I hope the restaurant takes immediate steps to prevent such issues in the future. Aside from this incident, the rest of our meal was enjoyable, but food safety must be a top priority, the steak smell was really bad.

The worst experience ever

The waiter was cleaning his nose right after opening the bottle of wine we ordered. The food was cold and the place is not pet friendly at all. We asked the waiter to bring some water for our dog and he mentioned they didn’t have a bowl. We use a glass of water to give to our dog as the restaurant was not helpful and the owner came outside to break the glass right in front of our dog next to our table… WORST EXPERIENCE EVER we paid only because we came with family and this was already a bad experience but the service was worst than bad.

I will never come back to this place and. It is not sanitary as the waiter were smoking and cleaning the nose right outside the place on working hours and the attention from the owner was horrible.
