What to say about Restaurant Colom? I have dined at this restaurant several times in the past year, and keep going back, taking family and friends with us, and everyone thinks the same, it's one of the best in Rambla Poblenou. The menu offers a lot of variety, the dining room is surprisingly vast inside, and, on top of that, they have tables outside in the terrace. The theme is very clear, as it's set in the times of the discovery of the new world and named after Christopher Columbus (Colom in Catalan). The food quality is amazing, as is the service. My favorite dishes have been the cod fish, Galician-style, the grilled calamari (finally a restaurant that offers calamari other than fried), and every pizza I have eaten has been delicious. I highly recommend it!

The food was nice but they tried to scam me. I ordered Gambas and the server asked do you want a bread as well? So I said yes because I thought he meant the bread as a side dish with a gambas. But he served the Pan con tomate and charged it. Be careful travellers. If you don’t speak in Spanish and don’t really know about the dishes and be like a first timer here then they’ll try to scam you. I hated it so much. The food was nice tho the server’s attitude was like so weird. I felt like so un welcomed. Pan con tomate was just 3 eur so it wasn’t a big deal for me to pay, so I just paid it considering like it’s just a tip for them but honestly, I think they should have gave the explanation properly.

Our experience was mixed at this restaurant. The pizza, priced ~14 eur, was deeply disappointing - both its appearance and taste suggested it was a frozen product rather than freshly made. The 30-min wait for our food was apparently due to the kitchen batching orders, as I noticed another customer who arrived much later received her mixed paella at the same time as mine - a practice that felt rather inconsiderate. The mixed paella, also priced ~15 eur, was considerably better than the pizza. It came generously loaded with both seafood and chicken. The squid was tender and complementing the well-seasoned rice nicely. While the prawns and mussels weren't particularly fresh, they were acceptable.

We were a group of 4, and we decided to have some food around the beach. It was a late sunday (11:00 pm) and then we checked online for a restaurant that would be open at least until 1 am to be able to have a peaceful meal. We were excited when we fall under this restaurant marked on google open until 1:00 am. We arrived there at 11:10 and there was a table outside for 4 perfect, we asked if we could seat and the bad experience started. The responsible (which we assume was the manager) as the less experienced staff went inside to ask him if we could have a table come to us and ask us if it was for drinks or food, we said food and then we took the seats and he comes up immediately with the menu and stating you guys must order now cause we are closing in 40 minutes. We took this restaurant explicitly because it was closing later then others, so literally we had the manager coming back in 1 min after giving us the menu asking the orders we did not even had time to check it, due to the pressure we end up taking 4 burgers and still took a chance to order pimentos padron as I still managed to got this name from the menu somehow. As we were hungry and had to walk 7 mins to reach this restaurant we did not questioned at this point to move out. Same with drinks, no menu was provided, and as soon as someone said a cock zero he was just so “4 cock zeros?” We were schoked as just replied yes. Pimentos padron never came to table, but the burgers did and these were so not what we were expecting for a 4,2 rating restaurant, it seemed like someone just wanted to do quick money with us. As soon as 2 of us ended up eating (recall we were 4) there was already someone approaching and then the responsible comes with the atm and check for payment and stating we have to clean this table before 00:00 as otherwise there is police control (at this time we just don’t understand) but we notice the bill is incorrect (pimentos padron did did not come to the table but were present in the check) we asked for a correction and next time we comes to table we ask “was not the restaurant supposed to close at 1:00 as displayed in google?” “Ah that is not accurate, we only close at that time on Friday and Saturday” we reply back, while the atm machine is randomly presented to one of us “it’s time to update it as we came here to have a peacefully and nice meal only because it would close at 1:00” no properly reply we end up payment, while one of 1 still is eating and the last one just feels the rush to swallow the food as there was literally removing the plates from the table. Yes the burgers were not great but we were hungry so we ended up eating them. We would have feel much better if from the beginning a quality service has been presented instead of just looking at us as “quick money” and ending up in this trap, the correct approach from the beginning would have been “sorry guys we cannot provide you a table as we won’t be able to properly provide a quality on the service as we close in 50 mins”! With the next group of tourists please do it better if this situation comes up, no one wants to feel like being forced to accept something just because the other party is feeling an...

We visited this restaurant twice. On our first visit, it was great, ordered Paella's and it was all around a good and tasty time.

Our second visit on a quieter night and it was mediocre to say the least.

To start, they brought out a double portion (and charged us for it) of some tapas we ordered only singles of. Secondly, they tried to upsell us on everything, very annoying. Thirdly, they SEVERELY undercooked our steaks, not like a case of getting medium when we ordered medium-well. These were extremely RARE steaks, with zero char, and very little flavour. It was pared with an overpriced "sauce" of choice and potatoes that look like they came from a North American grocery store hot table. The only redeeming quality was the tenderness of the meat.

The paella here is definitely frozen as well, though flavourful, it was brought out too quickly on our second visit for it to be completely from scratch, compared to the first night that took longer as it was busier.

Lastly, their cocktails, in all of Barcelona that we had visited, the worst cocktails were had here, both visits. Sangria is missing the punchiness (likely a lack of brandy), and the others are sad attempts. Beer was good and cheap though.

Did i mention the 10 Euro service fee (separate from tip) they add? Come on guys. I spent 120 Euros on an incredibly disappointing meal, to have a service charge added! Insult to injury. For 120 Euro you could get so much more for so much less. The menu design should probably give it away that this isn't a premium restaurant.

Overall, Very very disappointed and feel deceived compared to our...

Would give a 0 if I could. Came 3pm and the restaurant was empty, asked to sit outside when a table was free & was told no. Took our order and brought us 2 drinks I didn't ask for and still charged us. Overall service from the elder woman with hair tied back was pretty poor. The other staff did seem much more welcoming.

Ordered the Mixed Paella, Meatballs, Croquettes and Patatas Bravas. Croquettes were fine ? Came with a wilted salad. Patatas Bravas was nothing special. Meatballs were undercooked and bland. 1 portion only gave 2 meatballs with a lot of watered down sauce. The main focal point was the paella. Vile. The chicken was immensely overcooked. The cuttlefish and shellfish were dry and overcooked to the point they tasted powdery, possibly the worst fish I have ever tasted in my life. The mussels on the other hand were lovely, the only thing I enjoyed in the whole restaurant.

The restaurant itself is disgusting. Fine if you're sat outside and don't need the toilet - not surprising we were the only ones sat inside. The restaurant was swarming with flies and fruit flies everywhere, which isn't the best when you're sat down eating and drinking beer as you look down and theres 3 more flies inside your pint.

The toilet facilities are absolutely hideous. Straight out of a Darren Aronofsky film. Swarming with flies, badly lite, smelly, unusable facilities masked by cardboard, unclean seats and washing facilities etc. Absolutely disgusting.

Avoid like the plague. Unless you fancy partaking in a Resident Evil 7 theme'd Baker...
