I recently visited Malpaso Taqueria in Barcelona and had a mostly enjoyable dining experience, earning them four stars. I ordered the Nachos Malpaso, which came with chips, cheddar, pico de gallo, beans, guacamole, and a choice of filling - I opted for the pork carnitas. To accompany my meal, I selected an IPA beer.
The nachos had an authentic appearance and many of the flavors I was craving. However, there was one drawback: the chips, pork, and beans were all quite heavy on salt, which made the dish a bit overwhelming when combined. That being said, I am willing to give the restaurant another try, but I will likely choose a different combination next time.
For dessert, I indulged in the tres leches cake, which was authentic, delicious, and beautifully presented. The cake almost resembled a cappuccino, adding a delightful touch to the end of my meal.
In summary, Malpaso Taqueria offers a flavorful experience with some room for improvement when it comes to the salt balance. Despite this, I look forward to returning and trying out their tacos and burritos in the future. If you're in Barcelona and craving some Mexican fare, Malpaso Taqueria is worth checking out, but be prepared for a potentially...
Read moreThe tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos - all were delicious! The adobo, biftec and pastor fillings were flavourful, not dry and def hit the spot. Not as good as what we had in sayulita but I would def come back for more.
The downside of the food was the horchata. It was not good at all and tasted like skim milk with cinnamon. Would not recommend this whatsoever.
The server was really kind and helpful however, the service was slow (there was only one server and one cook who did double duty and would have to come back to see if this is normal. We ordered quite a bit and throughout the night and a couple of drinks and one extra order of tacos were forgotten but oh well, we weren’t too bothered by it since we didnt get charged for it.
Would come back. A friend who’s never really had Mexican food said he food 100% come back!! His eyes when he bit into his quesadillas...
Read moreI had the saddest and most tasteless tacos in my life tonight in this place by no other fault but a poor menu design combined with quite poor service in terms of explanation of the menu. Apparently you have to choose everything that goes into your taco and not just the meat. The display on ingredients on the menu doesn’t help you come to that conclusion by yourself (because the guacamole, cheese etc is listed in small print at the bottom of the page, while the meat is displayed at the top of the page in regular size font). So we ordered chicken and carnitas tacos and we literally got the wrap and the meat. And that was it. It ruined the entire eating experience. I guess the beer was good. And the two girls serving took the feedback reasonably well but they should’ve really done a better job in making sure we were aware of what we were...
