Ah, Micu Maku, the culinary gem that turned our last dinner in Spain into a gastronomic fiesta! If you ever find yourself wandering the streets of Spain, searching for a spot that will make your taste buds dance like nobody’s watching, look no further.
Let’s start with the green salad. It was so fresh and colorful that I half-expected it to start singing “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid. Crisp, vibrant, and packed with flavors that made me feel like I was eating in a garden of happiness—the salad was like a refreshing hug from Mother Nature herself.
Now, I was “paellaed out,” which is a serious condition many travelers face after indulging in too much of that saffron-infused goodness. So, I opted for the grilled pork, which was so tender that it practically slid off the plate and whispered sweet nothings to me. The potatoes with brava sauce? They were spicier than my attempts to flirt in Spanish! The padron peppers were like the roulette of the vegetable world—some were mild, some were spicy, and I took my chances like a true adventurer. And let’s not forget the cherry tomatoes, which were so juicy they could have doubled as a refreshingly fruity cocktail!
Meanwhile, my dining companion went for the paella and declared it the best one they had tried. That’s a bold statement in a country where paella is practically a national treasure! I suspect they might have taken a few bites just to ensure they weren’t dreaming, because honestly, who wouldn’t want to be whisked away to a land of seafood and saffron with every forkful?
And the sangria! Oh, the sangria! It was so delicious that I contemplated ordering a bathtub full to take home. A perfect blend of fruity goodness that made me forget all my worries—except for the fact that I was leaving Spain. I’d like to think that each sip added a year to my life, or at least to my Instagram feed.
Last but certainly not least, our server Luis! If attentiveness were an Olympic sport, he’d be on the podium with a gold medal. He was like a culinary guardian angel, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our plates were always full. I’m pretty sure I saw him do a little salsa dance when he brought out the food—now that’s the kind of service I can get behind!
In conclusion, if you’re in Spain and looking for a place that will leave you with a full belly and an even fuller heart, Micu Maku is the place to be. Just remember to leave some room for the sangria—your taste buds...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and my taste buds were treated to an absolutely delightful experience. In a world of culinary diversity, this spot stands out as an authentic jewel of Spanish cuisine, providing an irresistible blend of comfort food and sophisticated flavors.
First and foremost, I must give accolades to their exquisite Fideua. A delightful variant of the iconic Spanish Paella, this seafood feast was nothing short of a gastronomic wonder. Every bite was a symphony of flavors, with each ingredient harmonizing perfectly to create a palate-pleasing experience. The array of seafood was fresh, the grains were cooked to perfection, and the overall balance of spices was spot-on. It was an undeniable testament to the skill and finesse of the chef.
While the Pasta Carbonara was less remarkable, I found myself appreciating the effort put into preparing a dish outside the establishment's typical culinary milieu. True, the dish fell short of my expectations, but I attribute this more to the restaurant's Spanish orientation rather than to any lack of quality or expertise. It's always a challenge to nail international dishes with equal flair, after all.
The overall dining experience was considerably elevated by the warm hospitality and friendliness of the staff. Their attentiveness, courteous manner, and professionalism contributed to creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the delightful food. The comfortable ambience and top-notch service truly make this place a gem worth returning to.
Despite the slight miss with the Pasta Carbonara, my overall experience was genuinely enjoyable. The mouthwatering Fideua and friendly staff are more than enough reason for me to eagerly anticipate my next visit. If you're looking for a delicious Spanish culinary experience paired with great service, you should definitely pay a visit. See...
Read moreA really good place! Great food, great drinks, superb service and atmosphere. You won't regret visiting. They claim they have the best Sangria in Barcelona. True! We tried Sangrias at five other places but the Micu Maku's were far better than any of the other places. If you sit at the bar, you'll see how they make it in the pitcher from high quality fruits, red wine or Spanish champagne (cava) and ice. Served in pretty, decorated glasses dipped in sugar.
Olives weren't just simply good olives but marinated in an outstanding, spicy garlic sauce. The cheese platter came with cubes of fine quince cheese, walnuts. Spanish potatoes with probably the best house-made aioli (garlic mayo) I've had. All their tapas were exceptionally good, the ham croquette, pork skewers, the shrimps, the fried calamari, everything. We didn't have a single item we didn't like.
The vegetarian in our company loved the veggie wok with goat cheese the most. It wasn't a boring dish, very well seasoned and prepared, served with fresh broccoli (?) sprouts and splashed with a tasty balsamic creme. You must try the Spanish roasted whole padron peppers too, it's prepared well here.
Food and drinks are better than most other places we tried in Barcelona, but it's the fantastic service that makes this place truly outstanding. We wanted to try as many places during our first, 4-days visit as we could but Micu Maku was so good that we decided to return to it so we visited twice. We had different waiters, both of them were intelligent, kind, fast, professional with a great...
