Based off of the reviews I expected more. My friends and I LOVE oysters and we love going to different bars in Barcelona so that we can try a variety of oysters, and experience different bars.
We’d had Thierry on our list for a while, and I’m not sure whether tonight was their ‘off’ night or it’s their normal as so many people rate them so highly.
It’s difficult to put the full experience in to words as it was mainly a feeling we were left with of not being welcome, and that the service seriously let the quality of the food and wine down. I’m sad to say that the service at Thierry this evening was well below par and has left us with zero motivation to go back and try again.
The attitude of two of the team members was frankly rude and they should not be employed within a service environment. I’m amazed that a bar with a good reputation let’s people like that represent their business.
The team member that prepared the oysters was super friendly and helpful explaining information. Without him I would have rated service at 0.
The food itself was great quality which is what also makes the whole experience more disappointing.
The icing on the cake was when we went to pay we were told it’s impossible to split the bill in 3, it’s only possible in 2. We were a group of 3 individuals. The team member who told us this was particularly rude and it’s just a pain the arse to have to pay in 2 and then try to work out calculations. I’ve never been in this situation before, it seems ridiculous. The bar needs a...
Read moreWe like oysters and have come to treasure places that really treat their product with respect.
Unfortunately, that usually comes at a price. So when a colleague who likes to splash out on the best food in BCN recommended a new oyster bar in town we knew we had to visit.
If you check out my profile here you'll see that I don't post often, basically only when I find something outstanding. Bob Oyster is outstanding.
Great oysters, great Rimarts cava and a great price, what more could you ask for??
I mean a dozen epicure grade oysters for 20€ and a bottle of Rimarts Martínez for 18€.
I doubt you will find this price and quality anywhere, period.
We had the sampler menu (twice) three oysters and a generous glass of Rimarts Martínez for 7.50€ each!!! I'll repeat that: 15€ for 6 excellent oysters and 2 generous glasses of very good cava!!!
We also tried two types of Carpier's cured salmon and marinated herring (twice, it was that good).
The service was extremely professional and knowledgeable, honestly couldn't ask for more.
Highly...
Read moreOur visit to this lovely Oyster Bar was truly a wonderful experience. Perfect for an elegant date night, the ambience was cosy and the oysters were heavenly! They serve fleshy & juicy premium oysters from Normandy with sweet and salty notes. We had two Normandie Spéciale No.4 and one No.3. We also ordered one of their special oysters with Jalapenõs, Cilantro and Lime, which blew our mind!! We had our order paired with a class of Cava and an oyster beer. For someone who doesn't like beer, I kept asking for more and more sips from my husband's glass. And most importantly, the service was top-notch. Our hosts - David, Gabrielle and Carro, were very warm and welcoming! David showed us how they prepare and shuck fresh oysters - which I believe is a memorable experience for the guests.
Their warm hospitality, fresh ingredients and excellent food recommendations makes this oyster bar worth another visit. We are definitely coming back again next time we're...
