Chéri — Restaurant in Barcelona

I recently visited this restaurant, is located in a great neighborhood in Barcelona that unfortunately had some disappointing aspects. While the place had a very nice ambiance with beautiful decoration and music, the food was nothing special, just average. My friends and I were hoping to enjoy some tapas, but we were disappointed to find that there were limited options available. Instead, the menu featured odd choices such as bolognese pasta and onion soup with egg as a starter.

To make matters worse, the staff at the restaurant provided poor service. Although the food and drinks arrived quickly, the staff was not very welcoming. We felt a constant pressure to order quickly, even though there were many available tables and the place was not very crowded. The staff frequently approached our table, which was quite irritating, and when we did finally place our order, they made comments about how we should have ordered something else instead or even made an inappropriate remark about our choice being one of the "cheaper" dishes on the menu.

I cannot recommend this place unless you are only interested in taking photos for Instagram. Despite the great neighborhood, the poor staff attention was a major...

Absolutely terrible experience. We ordered a simple meal: bread, sautéed mushrooms with Iberian ham, a burrata salad, and drinks. We confirmed the order verbally and pointed to the items on the menu.

First, our drinks arrived, followed by bread and ham. We assumed the ham was part of the sautéed mushrooms with ham dish and started eating it since there was no indication otherwise. After 20 minutes, a waiter brought potatoes and mushrooms with ham. When we expressed surprise, saying we already received the ham, he insisted we ordered extra ham for €21.90. Despite acknowledging his mistake, he still made us pay for the extra ham.

We were also shocked how someone could confuse a burrata salad with potatoes, especially as we pointed to it on the menu. I don’t know if this was a scam or if the waiter just doesn’t care about customers' orders. Either way, we had to pay for his mistake.

We returned the untouched items and asked for the bill. It took another 15 minutes and multiple follow-ups to get it. Misunderstandings happen, but the rudeness and unprofessionalism were unacceptable....

Absolutely appalling experience. This restaurant treats people who aren’t from here with shocking disrespect and outright contempt.

After making us wait ages for a table, a man who appeared to be a manager - who had been unfriendly to us since our arrival - finally seated us, only to warn we might have to leave after 45 minutes. We agreed, trying to be accommodating. But just minutes after serving our drinks, and less than 25 minutes after we sat down, he returned in a foul mood and ordered us to leave immediately, even though we’d only just begun our drinks.

To make matters far worse, we were one of the only tables actually consuming anything; nearly all the locals seated long before us were still occupying completely empty tables, with either finished drinks or no food or drinks at all, left undisturbed. It was painfully clear we were singled out simply because we’re not from the area and not Spanish.

A place that treats its guests with such blatant unfairness and disregard for basic decency should be avoided...
