PULPERÍA A GUDIÑA — Restaurant in Barcelona

By far the worst hospitality experience I had this year. We were treated so rudely by the manager/person in charge. We ordered fish croquettes and apparently our order was mixed up with the meat croquettes. Two of us aren’t eating meat so we didn’t want to keep the plate with food. We were pretty chilled and didn’t want to make a big scene out of it. We called one of the waiters, told some of the croquettes were meat croquettes and told him we ordered fish. Than he took the plate and brought it back to the kitchen. He came back after a few minutes and said we should pay anyway for the food although we send it back to the kitchen. I said I wouldn’t pay for food we didn’t order. The manager came over and made us out for liars. I asked him if he tried the food and he said no. I then told him to try before implying us, but he didn’t want to and told us that we made it up. Dude, why would I? This man should definitely not work in this business or should be downgraded to a role behind the scenes. Perhaps dish washing? About the rest of the food; the empanada was okay and the sangria was delicious. The octopus was too chewy and the potatoes slightly...

I read the reviews about this place and they seemed good so I decided to try it out. I have never written a review for a restaurant or had any urge to until going to this place. This was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I have ever had. I am from Toronto and don't speak Spanish very well. The food may have been good at this place but the service was terrible. The staff was extremely rude and barely gave us any attention. Our food was all cold, dry, and seemed old. When we looked at tables around us the food seemed much different, so I can at least understand where some of the good reviews may have come from. I felt that we were taken advantage of and looked down upon due to our inability to speak fluent Spanish. I left this place is anger feeling cheated out of money and time. This experience made me want to share my review which is something I have never done before. I would highly discourage going...

I have mixed feelings about this place. First time we went there and liked it a lot, we took padron peppers, octopus and some beef fillet that was amazing. White house wine was also very nice. But...we went there one more time for a lunch today and that was disappointment. We took chipirones - they were OK, empanada - it was a bit dry, and some meat with potatoes - it was disaster...very little meat with A LOT of fat and grease, accompanied with tasteless cooked potatoes. Also, we asked for a bread and it was super dry inside and outside. Staff guy was apathetic, he didn't ask which size of beer we want, whether I need ice for my coca-cola and didn't ask if we enjoyed the food or not (he saw that we left the meat on the plate and just left with the...
