It's been a while since we've visited Quimet & Quimet. Two years ago we came during summer - when it's closed for the season.
This time we came before a cruise and it was open. Because of Covid-19 there was a time limit of 45 minutes (which they extended for us to 60 minutes because we kept ordering).
This place is quite the famous spot. It's been on several TV Shows (most prominently probably with Anthony Bourdain as customer). And it's famous for a good reason: You will get the best Tapas you've ever had in this small place. It's been 8 years since our very first visit and it's still as great as the first time.
It's a compact place and there are only tables to stand on, no sitting down. Without Covid-19 folks would drink and eat outside in the street, but not right now.
Wine selection (also Cava, spirits and dessert wine) is huge and the prices small. The Tapas list is endless. And everything - really everything - we've ordered was amazing. There was not a single item which we didn't like. And the Tapas are so innovative and creative. The most unusual and exciting combinations. But they all work. Pics won't do it justice.
Don't let yourself put off by the fact that pretty much everything comes out of cans and jars. The stuff here is top-notch Grade A quality. If there's one Tapas place to choose from in the whole of Spain, it this one here!
And the staff/owners are fast! And not just fast: they are friendly and helpful as well, despite the fact that the place is fully packed.
Order some classics like the Salmon with truffle honey. But also go for something you might not fall in love with when you read it on the menu. Try it, you might get surprised. I also loved the beef cheek very much. For a dessert, try the red orange flavoured wine!
I could go on and on here, describing how great this place is. But why don't you stop by and find out for yourself? We'll be back....soon! Highly...
Read moreDuring my recent trip to Barcelona, I stumbled upon a culinary treasure tucked away in the charming neighborhood of Poble Sec – Quimet & Quimet. This unassuming tapas bar exceeded all expectations and left me craving for more.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the cozy atmosphere and the lively buzz of conversation. The bar itself is a feast for the eyes, with walls adorned with bottles of wine and shelves stacked high with delectable ingredients.
The highlight of my visit was, without a doubt, the tapas. Each bite-sized dish was a work of art, bursting with flavor and creativity. From the delicate montaditos topped with fresh seafood to the savory cheeses and cured meats, every morsel was a delight for the senses.
One of the standout dishes was the montadito de foie con miel (foie gras with honey), a heavenly combination of rich, creamy foie gras balanced perfectly with the sweetness of honey. It was a flavor combination unlike anything I've ever tasted before, and it left me craving for more.
But the culinary delights didn't stop there. Quimet & Quimet is also renowned for its extensive selection of wines and vermouths, expertly curated to complement the flavors of the tapas. I found myself indulging in a glass (or two) of their house-made vermouth, which paired beautifully with the savory tapas.
In addition to the exceptional food and drink, the service at Quimet & Quimet was top-notch. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft, making the entire dining experience truly memorable.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Barcelona and craving an unforgettable culinary experience, look no further than Quimet & Quimet. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or simply looking to indulge in some delicious tapas, this hidden gem is sure to delight your taste buds and leave you...
Read moreWe stayed just across the street from this place and visited it on our last night. It was the best place we visited. The atmosphere was amazing, constantly busy, and normally with a que at least ten people deep waiting for a table. You are given 1 hour and you have to order food. With us staying across the road we could wait for the que to die down which was quite late but perfect as although we were told we had an hour there was no one else waiting after us and I'm sure we stayed way past an hour. The staff are amazing and somehow manage to keep everyone constantly fed and watered aswell as be happy to do so, they all look like they are having fun which is a truly rare thing in the hospitality trade, the guy who served us had time to talk with everyone whilst being amazingly efficient in his work and the guy and girl creating the tapas were not only fantastic at what they were doing but very quick without sending any dish out wrong or looking like it was a quick job honestly every dish was perfect and identically presented I could have watched them all night and we gave them plenty to do ordering what seemed like the whole menu in the time we were there. I beg you to try this place you will love it and it is worth the wait I promise. Thank you to all the team who made out last night...
