Restaurant A Família — Restaurant in Barcelona

My girlfriend and I were there last week. We ordered the special of the day. Paella to start off with and a plate of Tuna. Paella was great. However, the Tuna was HORRIBLE. Took one bite and had the worst taste ever. Tasted old. Took about an hour for taste to go away. I informed the supposed owner of this and she tried to tell me that it was fresh. I eat lots of tuna and never had one that tasted this bad. My girlfriend also agreed that it tasted old. So asked owner if I could change out the plate? She said that she could, but would charge me again for a new plate. These people don't care about the customers. They just get you in there to eat. But service was bad. That's why I gave it a 3. At least here in the U.S. they either comp you or replace...

I'm surprised at the relatively good reviews of this restaurant. For me, definitely one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We left full plates and paid 30 euros for it. Something that was supposed to be an appetizer was probably overcooked pre-frozen vegetables with no taste. None of the food had any flavor. I had a hair in my fries. The only thing you could eat was raw onions :)... Very disappointing for how nice a location the restaurant is in. If I'm being optimistic, the most that deserves one star is the service, which was relatively nice (and english speaking), and the water, which was cold. A mistake to go here for a meal. Like several of the other posters, I don’t understand the praise for the place. A restaurant like would be fine in any smaller town, but in BCN, you may as well just take pictures of your food, put it on a poster, laminate it, and dupe the tourists. Because we got duped. Don’t let it happen to you.

Service: Less than average; slow, uninterested, but pleasant enough. I didn’t line item the bill when it came, but another reviewer stated they charge 3 euro if you sit on the patio. If that’s true, I saw no mention of it anywhere.

Food: While edible, it was underseasoned, uninspired, and in the end, unfortunately forgettable.
