I came here 3 times during my 1 week visit in Barcelona. That tells how good I think their ramens are. Though I did not try all the ramens in Barcelona (I tried another popular one, i.e. Takumi), I believe their ramens are the closest you can get for authentic Japanese ramen in Barcelone. They claim their bone broth is brewed over 18 hours and ramens are handmade which I don't doubt it. For different ramens, they use different types of noodles with various thickness. I tried the Tonkotsu which uses the thinner noodle and the Spicy Yuzu uses a thicker one. Both were good and had a texture to my liking. The portion of ramen is a bit small but you can always order an extra serving of plain ramen (Kaedama) or a bowl of steamed rice to add to the remaining broth to finish off your meal. I felt sad whenever I saw people left the a lot of broth and just finished the ramen and toppings especially if the broth has been earnestly prepared like those served at Kanada-Ya. After all, the broth is supposed to be the spirit of a bowl of ramen. Unlike the chashu (braised pork belly and not the same as Cantonese char siu which tastes much better) I had in many other ramen shops which does not have any taste at all, I like their chashu a lot as it was full of flavour and taste. By the way, in their lunch menu, you can order a bowl of ramen plus a small bowl of steamed rice topped with chashu and its sauce (it is quite like the Taiwanese braised minced pork sauce rice). The rice was so delicious. I won't hesitate to recommend this ramen shop for anyone who craves for a bowl of authentic...
Read moreKanada , have a few shops between Europe and Asia, they just open one here in Barcelona about a year ago, and I like this one better the Hong Kong shop and its not much different than their London shop , but less than the Japan shop. so you have the idea of the standard.
I am very picky with my Ramen . everything inside the bowl have to be almost perfect ( i said amost , coz 100% perfect is almost impossible!! and I always like Ichiran and Ramen Jiro but I think Kanada is very good also , somehow i like it even more than Ichiran!! maybe because they come with many more choices , If you like Tonkotsu Ramen, Kanada is the best in Town!! much better than many places here in Barcelona , it taste the real Japan! and the noodles, they let you choose the texture , which is the big plus. the taste and the texture of the broth is almost perfect!! unlike many Ramen places here , this one know what they talking about, I like them not because of their name because I really like it !! too bad they dont do the beef ramen like Japan. Do try their spicy yuzu ,ramen and the truffle edamame is good too , couple of things I have pick on is the staff. the staff doesn't make me feel welcoming and the karaage , should be marinated better and the batter should be a bit thinner . Well done Kanada!! keep up your good work but trained your staff to...
Read moreThe ramen is absolutely delicious, and I always enjoy eating there on weekends. However, during my last visit, I had collected enough points on the loyalty card, which clearly states that you can redeem them for a free bowl of "any ramen".
When I asked to use it for the most expensive ramen, I was instead given the cheapest one for free. When I pointed this out, I was told it was not possible. After insisting, he finally refunded me, but he commented, “It’s only 3.4 euros," which I found very unpleasant.
I don’t understand how he could say that after incorrectly applying the discount to the cheapest ramen. It’s not about the money—it’s about trust, which he failed to recognize.
Although the ramen itself is excellent, I was very disappointed with the service.
The cashier at that time was someone named Mohamed, who usually works in the kitchen. It was a very unpleasant experience, and because of that, I don’t think I will return...
