The dog is hot — Restaurant in Barcelona

A nice takeaway place located on Carrer de Joaquín Costa, a cool street in one of the centers of Barcelona, “This Dog Is Hot” is a hot dog places offering many variations of classic hot dog sandwiches. The place is very friendly in general, and also vegan friendly. The area is a cool colorful area that’s less touristy then the well known streets around Barcelona, and this is a good idea to stop here if you are planning go to to the Montjuic hill area. The guy at the stand spoke very good English and knew what “vegan” means — a rare combination in Barcelona eating places. He offered any of the combinations on the menu with a vegan sausage made out of tofu. The portion is not huge so I wouldn’t go here if I was very hungry, but definitely try it if you are in the area. Conceptually great Execution ehhhh (maybe we just got a bad two?)

There was no textural contrast here and the vegan and regular dogs themselves were lacking in flavor, the hotdogs are just boiled in water?

I think a toasted bun and a hotdog with a snap instead of just a soft one would make this immediately much better The toppings were pretty good though And the free sauce selection is top notch!

The French fries were very good, salted to perfection

Overall, cool spot, quick lunch good prices and pretty good portions, worth checking out especially if you’re craving a plant based hotdog!

This place is amazing!! And the owner was so sweet. He’s from Brazil but he’s half Japanese and half Spanish? So cool. I got the vegan sausage with the guacodog and the camperdog (pictured below) and I was blown away. At first i was critical about having pico on a hotdog but it did not disappoint. They have this very tasty and spicy habanero sauce that I put on there and it was sooooo good I need the recipe. The only thing I thought could be better was the bun.
