Looking for tapas on a romantic afternoon with my one and only, we came across Venus. After being welcomed at the door, we were personally escorted to the best seat in the house, “The Lover’s Window”. After hearing about the daily special, we took our waiter’s suggestion of the house Sangria, which was the best of our entire week in Spain (we may have had multiple rounds). Anxious to sample a variety of the Spanish-Mediterranean inspired menu, we basically had “one of everything!” The highlight was tortilla de papa, so much yum in every bite. Don’t come here without having it, because then you’ll need to visit Sagrada Familia immediately for commuting this sin. After yet another round of Sangria we had their version of a chocolate soufflé with fresh strawberries and crème fresh. We felt like royalty the way we were taken care of and it is a meal the we’ll remember forever. Oh and the price - not meant for royalty, but rather for a commoner who deserves the epicurean luxurious afforded the aristocracy. How is this place...
Read moreLiving in Barcelona makes one become very particular about food, especially when it comes to Tapas. I took a very good friend from Vienna here last Tuesday to have a late Tapas lunch and was horrified by what came out of the kitchen: dry and stale nachos that had been in the microwave for too long, dry and stale pa e tomaquet (it is REALLY hard to make this one come out of the kitchen bad!), lukewarm croquetas...it just plain sucked. Granted it was early when we stepped in (14:30), the chef was sitting on one of the tables and did not bother to get up to prepare the food but left it to the less-than-motivated waitress to prepare the food. I like the place in general but I took my friend to get a good taste of Tapas and frankly, this display was a disgrace. I spoke to the chef before I paid to tell him that I found it very sad that they did not even make an effort to serve decent food. He did understand. However, I am not...
Read moreExcept of the food , wine and hospitality which were great , I wanna share an experience of mine in this place . So, being completely tired ,because as a tourist I was strolling around all day , I completely forgot about the big pockets (who are a lot in this area ) and I did hang my bag in the back of my chair . A few minutes later I saw the waitress running and shouting in Spanish but I didn’t give that much of importance. But after that she came back holding my bag!! Yes ,it had been stolen and neither me nor my friends noticed absolutely nothing. Specifically the Chef was the one who noticed and alerted her. I was in a shock and also thrilled by this so genuine gesture of them. They completely saved my trip and made my day 🩷 thank you very much 🩷I would definitely choose it again in my next trip to the amazing...
