The worst. “Made in Sicily” in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona has a rating that certainly does not fit the experience. Last night we ordered a pizza and a pasta. When the “buffalo” mozzarella pizza arrived, it was covered with 1/4” thick mass of inexpensive mozzarella cheese, (more like leather) with a few uncooked tomatoes and no basil.
Knowing that buffalo mozzarella has a creamy texture and is normally placed randomly over the pizza it was obvious that this was not correct. We actually thought that we had been served the wrong pizza.
Rather than fix it, the waiter told us that they were out of Basil and brought us some remnants of chopped basil and dropped them on the pizza. The tomatoes also apppeared to be an afterthought, as they were uncooked cherry tomatoes that were not even ripe.
The pasta scampi with garlic came with no garlic and the shrimp was also so overcooked it was mushy. When we asked for an solution, the owner then came over and berated us for not being grateful for what we got and told us that we don’t understand good Italian food and that they are a 5 star restaurant.
We are foodies and travel around the world eating in Michelin and James Beard awarded restaurants. What we were served was not authentic, it was garbage. Overall a horrible experience and rather than make it right, the owner just brought us our check and basically asked us to leave.
Truly the worst dining experience we have ever had in 25 years of coming...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at "Made in Sicily"! The food was absolutely delicious, we had pizza and some classic Sicilian dishes that tasted incredibly authentic. It's clear that the restaurant is run by Sicilians who put a lot of heart into what they do.
The atmosphere was cozy and warm, with a real family vibe. You could even share a laugh with the staff behind the bar from your table, such a welcoming place!
Service was excellent. Our waitress, Shwamy, was especially kind and helpful. She gave us great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came quickly, and even the starters were perfectly timed.
It truly tasted like something my Sicilian grandmother would have cooked well, almost as good ;)
We finished our meal with a Limoncello and espresso, both were top notch and the perfect way to end the evening.
Highly recommended, whether you're out for a relaxed dinner, a family evening, or just craving authentic...
Read moreWe went there because the line at Colom was too long. To sum it up, it was a bad decision and we should have waited in the line for colom. We ordered a salad, pasta and pizza. The pizza and the pasta were okay. The salad was a waste of money. The kitchen door was open and I could see, that they got the salad greens out of a plastic bag and just put the tiniest bit of honey on it. When they served it we discovered some fruit flies crawling around in the plate. The service was not good. The waitress was unfriendly and seemed like she was annoyed by the guests and overall didn’t want to be there. She messed up our order and as I tried to explain it to her that it wasn’t the right pizza, she answered “huuuuuhhh?!, huuuuhh?” in a annoyed and disrespectful tone. I really don’t expect that all the servers speak English but it would be nice if they at least tried to find out what the guests are trying to say to them. I mean at the end we are...
