I recently had the pleasure of dining here, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Bilbao's charming old town. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat. The vibrant decor, warm ambiance, and delightful aromas immediately transported me to the colorful streets of my vacation years ago in Mexico.

Upon entering, I was greeted by the lovely waitress who single-handedly managed the entire restaurant with utmost grace and efficiency. Despite the bustling crowd, she navigated seamlessly between taking orders, serving dishes, and clearing tables. Her exceptional multitasking skills and unwavering smile were truly commendable. The level of service she provided was nothing short of remarkable.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. Txokomex serves up a tantalizing array of authentic Mexican dishes that will leave your taste buds dancing with delight. The menu is a treasure trove of culinary delights, offering a wide variety of traditional favorites such as tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, each bursting with vibrant flavors and expertly prepared.

While the restaurant was bustling with patrons eager to savor their delectable offerings, the wait was absolutely worth it. As I sat patiently at the cozy table, taking in the lively atmosphere, I couldn't help but appreciate the careful attention to detail that went into each dish. When my order finally arrived, I was greeted with a visually stunning presentation that showcased the care and craftsmanship put into every plate.

I cannot recommend this small humble cove enough. Despite being the only waitress handling a bustling restaurant, the young lady's exceptional service never faltered. Conforme pasaba el tiempo más iba decayendo... El día de ayer fuimos mi pareja y yo, tenía tiempo queriendo ir debido a que varias personas me lo habían recomendado ( el que está en casco viejo), así que bueno ya que este me queda más cerca decidimos probar.

Empezamos por los nachos, los cuales están hechos de totopo(el nacho) de tortilla de maíz (fiel a los típicos nachos ), lo cual para mí como mexicano es un punto extra ya que no es el típico totopo de bolsa , sin embargo el resto de ingredientes no aportaban mucho, llegamos a la conclusión que están bien pero que no valen lo que cuestan, ya que eran demasiado simples o faltaba algo de sabor, se sentían muy planos. Después pedimos unas enchiladas verdes, una quesadilla de carne de cerdo y unos tacos.

Las enchiladas fueron lo primero en salir (algo extraño ya que suelen tardar más ) y en general en un principio la salsa de las enchiladas estaba bien, pero conforme ibas comiendo te iba cansando, no sé si por el pollo o por qué la tortilla de las enchiladas se iba quedando muy blandurria y quedaba con una textura que daba grima, sinceramente no nos gustó mucho, así que fue un poco decepción.

Y aquí empezó lo peor, para este entonces ya habían pasado unos 30 min, los tiempos eran muy muy lentos, mientras mi pareja comía yo esperaba otro de los platillos que pedimos, aproximadamente 20 minutos después de que llegaran los nachos recibimos una quesadilla, la cual estaba ok, sencillamente no era muy buena ni muy mala , nada que resaltar. Y de aquí pasaron otros 20 min ... Sinceramente ya estábamos lo suficientemente decepcionados y ya se me había quitado el hambre y aún no sacaban los tacos, sinceramente es increíble cómo pasó tanto tiempo y algo tan rápido de servir como unos tacos tardaron tanto, incluso le pregunté a la camarera para ver si podía cancelar el pedido y parecía que se le había olvidado, para que unos minutos después me dijera que ya los habían hecho, pasaron unos 8-9 minutos y me tuvieron que poner los tacos para llevar .

En conclusión fue una decepción...

If I could give this more stars, I would! The food is great but the star of the show is the chicken wings which are 🔥 and delicious. My photo doesn't do it justice. I've been here twice and I travelled back from the other end of the country just to have them again. I need the recipe! Go here! You won't regret it! And then bring me some of those chicken wings.. The place doesn't take...
