Restaurante 'Llum del Mar' — Restaurant in Benidorm

Not good. Certainly nothing gourmet or high quality about it. Views are stunning and staff were all very pleasant, but that's where the niceties end. Service was painfully slow and unattentive, restaurant was missing multiple wines that were on the wine list, and they didn't even have the iberico ham starter available - a real shock considering it is often a staple of Spanish cuisine.

We were served a small appetiser for free which was good - some sort of beef cheek, which although tasted nice, was barely lukewarm. We were then served some bread, which was very hard and not warm - I'd have expected soft fresh warm bread from a place like this. Starters left a lot to be desired. I ordered anchovies and was given a plate with 4 small rectangular strips of bread (hard enough to be considered croutons) topped with a cold anchovy on top of each. I had lamb for my main which was served extremely rare. I often eat my steaks rare, but rare lamb is not something I care to stomach. Potatoes served with the lamb were undercooked and hard - was almost like they were raw. Sauce was nice though. Dessert was surprisingly very simple, but can't complain about the taste - was possibly the only part of the meal I can say was actually nice.

Resturante que está ubicado dentro del Hotel Villa Venecia. Estuvimos tres días en el hotel y tuvimos la suerte de disfrutar de este restaurante, tanto en los desayunos como en una comida . Y escribimos esta reseña porque sin dudar queremos recomendároslo. Durante esos días la amabilidad y el trato que tuvieron con nosotros fue de diez y nos dejaron sin palabras. Os explico, mi mujer es intolerante a la fructosa y en su tratamiento ahora ha disminuido también la ingesta de lactosa y gluten. Esta intolerancia es de las más fuertes que te puedes encontrar y de las menos conocidas a nivel restauración... Pues bien, en este caso nos encontramos con el maitre Radu y con el chef Rafael que se volcaron con mi esposa para que pudiera disfrutar de cada desayuno y de la comida que hicimos aunque eso supusiera poner platos fuera de carta o preparar comidas especiales solo para ella. Tan es así que si los llamas con 24 horas de antelación son capaces de prepararte un menú completo preparado para cualquier intolerancia. Es tan difícil encontrarte esto hoy en día que si sucede vale la pena perder 15 minutos para darlo a conocer también al resto de personas a las que les pueda interesar esta crítica. Un diez por ellos. Dicho esto el restaurante tiene una vistas excelentes y ese desayuno en la terraza oyendo solo los sonidos del mar hoy en día no tiene precio. Como yo no tengo intolerancia yo sí pude disfrutar de la carta y todo lo que probé estaba muy muy bueno. El cremoso de foie de los entrantes fenomenal aunque mucho mejor esa parte del plato con chocolate por encima... El solomillo lechal con parmentier con una carne de gran calidad y muy bien hecha. El parmentier también excelente. Y para terminar ese postre. Radu me recomendó el cremoso de queso pero yo me pedi el Villa Venecia de fresas templadas con yogur búlgaro y algodón de azúcar. No soy "dulcero" y me tiene que apetecer para pecar pero en este caso acabé con el plato y solo puedo deciros que ha sido uno de los mejores postres que he probado. Un conjunto sensacional que me dejó sin palabras. Para repetir... En lo general, la carta no es amplia pero todo lo que te vas a encontrar vale la pena probarlo. Tienes además la posibilidad de pedirte un menú degustación que cambia todos los días y que está bastante bien por 55 euros. Lo mejor, dentro de un cinco estrellas es un restaurante donde comes muy bien, te tratan divinamente y no sales "ametrallado" por el precio. Lo dicho, MUY RECOMENDABLE, si estás en Benidorm tanto si estás alojado en el hotel como si quieres acercarte. Nosotros, sin dudarlo,...
