Bambouzza — Restaurant in Benijófar

Sad experience last night. Had booked a table for Valentine's Day special dinner. When I booked, I was told that the menu had not been decided yet, but would come later. We arrived at 19.00 and had to pay at the door for the food before we could enter and were told that there was a welcome drink on the table. There was no drink and we waited a long time. No servant came. In the end we had to call a waiter ourselves to get drinks. The first small dishes arrived and were not presented. When we asked what it was we got, the waiter replied that it was what was on the menu that had been mentioned on Facebook... Ohh We hadn't seen it, and still didn't know what it was. (We tried to check it out on Facebook and it was only in Dutch.) For the main course, we could choose between salmon or steak. We all chose steak and I ordered mine red. When it arrived it was completely overcooked and impossible to eat, it was so tough and hard. I called the waiter over and said it was tough, hard and not least overcooked. Got the answer that it was probably someone else who had gotten the tender. But that I could get a new one. (My friends' steak was equally tough and inedible, but they wouldn't complain.) In came a new steak for me and this time it was not red either, but raw and served with cold vegetables and a cold dollop of sauce the size of a teaspoon Dessert was a strawberry dipped in chocolate, a pastry bowl (not homemade) with a dollop of whipped cream and a small Petit Four of indeterminate provenance. We had paid €45 per person for it. We will not go...

I have always loved coming here and wanted to try the food as I heard was magnificent. However when I contacted them they said they cannot / will not cater for vegans. When I said “shame in this day and age” I got this reply……

So you expect every restaurant to change for your needs. Because you dicided to be vegan for a while. Explaining you that we only have a menu concept and it is difficult to give you a 5 course vegan option. Not having a big kitchen and not a la carta choices. We would if we had the posibility. And by the way thank you for the review. That is such a poor way to give yourself a good feeling. Bravo

I have been vegan for 10 years not “a while”. I hope that they don’t reply to people like this with other dietary restrictions or heaven forbid with allergies.
