We are regulars to benimar and had never tried this restaurant before, we went this evening to see what it was like as the food looked great. We arrived at just before 8pm and we expected a small crowd as it’s only Tuesday but it was quite busy, the staff managed to seat us anyway, though we almost wish they hadn’t seated us as the evening after this was very poorly executed and we were pretty much excluded the whole time..we tried to order drinks and the waitress made a big deal about it for no reason, there was an obvious language barrier and we tried to speak Spanish as best we could and felt like our efforts were not recognised as they were very rude and condescending towards us. We were not trying to be hard to communicate and we were ignored by everyone. We ordered starters and mains and noticed that several other tables (with Spanish locals) were being served before us. We tried to order water several times and no one would look our way..The bathrooms were not signposted which it definitely needs to be as every person had to ask where they were..and when I went in myself there was no mirrors and the doors were not even functioning properly. You walk past the kitchen window on the way there and the back was just full to the brim with dirty dishes which was pretty bad to see in a fancy restaurant. When I got back to my table my partner said he found a silver fish in his napkin (google them if you’re interested). We ordered a cheese board that took a very long time to arrive..it had a lot of meat cuts on it and one type of cheese which tasted very bad, it was way too overpowering (tasted like feet basically) they should have options and maybe a few chutneys or something. For mains we got lasagna and the soleluna tagliatelle, the food was good but my partner read the reviews online before it arrived and was worried about eating it as many people were saying it was bad. Overall the food was ok and we finished it. In terms of interior design the decor is very nice and it has serious aesthetic value but the staff really need to work hard on their attention to customers, and work on their attitude. Very rare that we don’t leave a tip but this place didn’t deserve any extra money for how we were treated. Wouldn’t likely be...
Read moreVery nicely designed restaurant, and the starter we had (focaccia) was more than enough to feed the 3 of us and it was delicious too.
This is where the problems start. The waitress, rather than taking the plates and cutlery away together, asked us to lift our knives and forks off the plates and she took the plates away without the cutlery, so we had nowhere to put them and were expected to simply reuse the same cutlery again.
We all had pizzas for the main course. I ordered the Pizza Country (tomato-base, "cream" - which even the waitress didn't know what the cream actually was and didn't clarity the cream would replace the entire part where the cheese should be - , chicken and bacon. The pizzas arrived unsliced and only one of us was given a pizza cutter (it wasn't me). The Pizza Country's base was absolutely filled to the brink with light, unknown cream which didn't taste great and caused all the chicken and bacon to slide right off.
The side of chips (fries) were massively over salted, although, there was a more than generous portion which is a positive.
For dessert, the chocolate cake was very clearly just a dried-up, store-bought cheap cake which couldn't have cost the restaurant more than 2 Euros.
I would need to suggest visiting alternative restaurants in the area as there are certainly better places to go for a nice meal.
Total came to roughly €91.50 for the...
Read moreWe visited this place last night. Yes interior is nice, well decorated and unfortunately that's it. First, My husband asked what kind of side dish he could have with his meat and they offered only chips (I find it ridiculous for this kind of a restaurant, also they offer salads on the menu, so at least could be a some salad as side) Then we were waiting for over an hour for our food, place was not full, also two tables who came after us, was served with food before us. Our group was 4 people, ordered 2 pizzas, risotto, and meat. This was served in 3 separate time, first 2 pizzas then few minutes later my risotto and then I asked the waiter where the food is for my husband as the waiter had 2 other dishes in his hand for other tables. Not too apologetic. I find the service here very poor, they did not look after us at all. Also the portions weren't great, for 22 euro I got 4 prawns in my risotto. My husband's meat looked like a starter. Sangria costs 8.5 euro, cocktails 10 each. For our 2 main course and drink we paid 67 euro and we left hungry. I wanted to try some dessert, but I was already disappointed with the experience, also the waiter did not bother to ask us. So we definitely won't be back, not great value for price, actually I find this...
