Cafe Estoril — Restaurant in Bilbao

A hidden gem off the beaten path, Cafe Estoril was where I ended my tapas bar hop in Bilbao. It was packed when I arrived around 13:30h / 1:30 pm, emptied out after 14h / 2 pm and filled up again around 15h / 3 pm. While I’d had other mushroom topped pintxos and bacalao in this city, the ones at Cafe Estoril topped them all - the mushrooms were served with a savory sauce that I soaked up with some bread. Our first stop during our stay in Bilbao. A truly authentic little bar with delicious pintxos. You have to order inside if you want to sit outside, and then you suddenly see all the tasty snacks on the counter. Outside, there's a terrace facing the street at a roundabout, which is quite cozy. Una vez más comprobé lo que tantas veces me han comentado sobre el trato que dan al cliente en este local cuando no te conocen. Dejé de ir ya hace dos años por una muy mala actuación del dueño con una persona que lleve para probar sus pintxos. Ayer lo volví a intentar por pensar que igual algo había cambiado. La experiencia fue aún peor. Fui con mi familia y el dueño se comportó de manera irrespetuosa, brusca, arrogante y desde mi punto de vista inadmisible.Tal y como lo recordaba. Para generar una buena experiencia de cliente, que es lo que como propietarios pienso se debería de buscar, desde mi criterio, no es suficiente con tener una buena barra. Afortunadamente hay otras muy buenas opciones en Bilbao para tomar un buen aperitivo. No volverán a verme por este lugar y viendo las formas que ayer tuvieron conmigo intuyo que tampoco les importe.
